Yeah, the HD and the Tech seem to be the two to have - although each may seem to prefer different blades. Try some oblique angles XTG too.

1.5 converts and counting...

Hey Folks, Haven't posted in awhile - been busy. I did manage to re-acquaint a friend with wetshaving - bought him an HD for his birthday and it looks like I may have actually converted another. I sent the guy home with my Merkur HD, some Van Der Hagen and my tub of Tryphon English Lavender. He was ...

I picked up some of the KOS alpha gel recently. It smells something toxic, but it works very, very well. Not as satisfying as sweet smelling brush-lather, but what the hey... I also saw that national geographic show on shaving - the mass-market products do work remarkably well considering the meager...

Gillette 7 o' clock rocks...

I was in a pretty terrible shaving rut the past week. The Feathers were a bit too much, and the Weishi proved incapable of cutting anything, it was so gentle. Topping it off, I left my only brush, a vulfix #2234 at the house of the friend I'd been visiting last weekend. :( Picked up some King of Sha...

KMF cool mint - a pleasant surprise!

Found the stuff at Whole Foods for $6, works surprisingly well. I was suspicious of the handsoap style dispenser, but it's pretty hassle free way of doing things. I deposit it into the bowl - does anybody put it in the brush first?

The Astra: OK, but nothing to write home about.

Tried the Astra from the huge R&B sampler pack in the HD yesterday and today. Decent shave, a little irritation. I'll have to try a fresh one in the slant later this week for giggles. I may have been off my form. So far the ranking is: Gillette swede (gotta be careful though) IP super plus Treet...

Perhaps it was a glitch of some kind - the post was about that goofy microsoft internal spoof video - not really related to shaving in any way.

I hope he's coping well - I don't begrudge him in the least for taking care of family stuff. That site has been a good resource for me.

Shaveblog active again?

I got a post in my feedreader from shaveblog - when I opened the preview, it said no such post, but it was indeed shaveblog. Anybody else get something like this?

That's a bummer.... especially since your contact seems to have their stuff in order. Is the company pretty sizeable? I've come to expect pretty poor service from companies like comcast or qwest.

I expect the nature of the slant probably improves the action of most any blade. I haven't tried the US personnas, but then, I haven't really gone looking for them...

Yeah, the slant is a bit more aggressive. I was braced for carnage and got none. I must have improved my technique over the past month. I daresay the HD tugs more with the personna, and that's not a bad shave at all...

I guess the slant works for me!

Took delivery of a Merkur slant and tried it out today. Positively effortless loaded with a crystal personna. More effortless even than the HD with a swedish gillette.

Makes me wanna try out a feather in there!

Thanks for the clarification! So "black beauty" and "blue special" are pretty much interchangeable. I've been swishing the head in 91% for the last couple weeks, regardless of which blade. I'm somewhat compulsive.

Its only the third blade I've tried. Perhaps one of the other Treets will be a hassle. Or, maybe after three shaves the black blade will start to display a weakness...

Which Treet blade, exactly?

Got my huge sampler pack from razor and brush. Tried out the "black" treet blade today. There's nothing in particular on the packaging, and I wondered what this blade is referred to as. Is the "Blue Special" something else, or is this it? It was very good, especially for being th...

I've found with MWF that I can hold the container at an angle over the lathering bowl and a lot of soap-water slops out in there, which seems to help things along. It would also seem that HOT water makes all the difference. I forgot to microwave the mug of distilled H2O once last week, and I couldn'...

Ahh... I tried it again yesterday, and using more water seemed to do the trick. Indeed, now it is the best lather I've gotten from a soap! I'll have to give the Mama Bear's another try with the same technique. Thanks much!
