Re: Tabac/Maurer & Wirtz announces a new scent

Promising, but note pyramids are a marketing ploy and a crapshoot. Still, no amber listed should mean no ambroxan overdose as is the current fashion. I will try a shave soap if there is one

Re: Harris soap reformulation

That new Harris formulation listing appears to be for the Arlington (Farnesol is in the fragrance blend for that). The almond still has prunus dulcis.

Re: Starting over with an open blade

Oscar, thanks, and all is still well. I'm a bit faster about it than I was when I started and have got the chin handled. Pretty consistent with the top lip now, too. The neck and jawline get daily touch up after two full passes, but that's becoming less essential. Today I realized that the stall out...

Re: Barbershop professional shaving bar

Gary, I may have to dig out my puck again and try it once or twice more. Perhaps I was just having an off week previously.

Re: Barbershop professional shaving bar

Gary, I would still give it a shot. You may have better luck or better water. I think Roger (Shave4Fun) used this stuff for a while.

Re: Barbershop professional shaving bar

I have a puck of the original scent. Couldn't get it to do much better than bubbles. It was a disappointing purchase for me. Great branding. That font! Too bad about the performance.

Re: Musgo Real soap

I do love the shape of the puck, too. The dome should help the soap wear a bit differently over time, as most pucks tend to dish in the middle. And, I concur with Clive that it helps with loading the brush, too. I am wondering if I do need to consider not using it consecutively, as a one-day break y...

Re: Musgo Real soap

I look forward to hearing what you think, Clive. Five shaves in, I am really pleased with it. The irritation I experienced was due to razor technique, I feel certain now. The slickness is just fantastic, and there is ample protection to accompany it. I have really enjoyed using it. I would say it ma...

Re: Starting over with an open blade

Chris, thanks. That touch-up for months on end thing sounds great. Superb shave again today, absolutely no nicks or weepers or raw patches. My skin barely noticed the alcohol in the splash. There are slight ups and downs, but progress seems pretty steady. By August 1, this should be no big deal. Lov...

Re: Musgo Real soap

B, I agree. The prices are ridiculous. The colognes went from $35 to $70 overnight. The aftershave splash is out of my price range, too. At least the soap hasn't hit Pen's pricing...yet. Clive, yeah, I hear you. Like I said, Fendrihan is where I got mine, and it's the good stuff. Their shipping was ...

Re: Musgo Real soap

Shave 2 was excellent. I used a DE today due to an unexpected chance to meet with my new boss. The slickness I get from this soap is simply outstanding. Not sure if it's due to the talc or the surfactant (it does have other purposes in certain products than simple foaming) or some other factor. Ther...

Re: Musgo Real soap

Clive, I think the boxes are different. The newer stuff is in the darker green box with a more upscale version of their logo. Shavenation has a pic on their storefront that looks like what I think is the old box. Fendrihan for sure has the newer soap, and I think Gifts & Care does too.

Musgo Real soap

I made an impulse purchase a week or so ago. I was perusing Fendrihan's while looking for strop paste and came across Musgo Real soap. I did have some vague knowledge that they had introduced a hard soap a few years back, but I never pursued it as I was making my own soap and not looking for commerc...

Re: Project House

No idea, Gary. I got the advice on the acetic acid at a local hardware store (Ace). I will say that it did not knock out the deepest roots on these noxious weeds, so perhaps it can't kill something the size of a tree. I would try contacting the ag extension office there, though. The CO ag extension ...

Re: Project House

See, Clive, I've always known I was a trend-setter. :D Unfortunately, we do have a couple of noxious weeds here that neither vinegar nor Roundup will touch. They spread via underground runners and simply will not die. 20-year weeds, according to most folks. Anyway, I'm fighting those with a pitchfor...
