Re: Home Roasting Coffee Beans

Oh my - another rabbit hole.

What about the grind? I got a small hand operated burr grinder or Christmas - would that be enough to do the job for a full pot?

Re: Williams Mug Shaving Soap is still horrible

I might (maybe) buy a puck on Amazon, assuming I can find a single bar. Most vendors are offering it in a multi-pack deal. Like I said - I, too, like the scent - and I REALLY like how my face feels after I use it. If nothing else good comes from it I will drag it into the shower and bathe with it. I...

Re: Williams Mug Shaving Soap is still horrible

Though I do like the mild verbena smell of Williams. Verbena? Interesting - I thought it was citronella, or something like that. It also occurs to me that living in the Austin area with a water softener might make the water decent enough to get lather. Last time I tried Williams was 5+ years ago, w...

Re: Williams Mug Shaving Soap is still horrible

That's why they say friends don't let friends shave with Williams. I cant get a great lather with it with it, only a fair lather, but I sort of like the scent, and I for sure like how my face feels after I finish. No other cream or soap leaves my face feeling the way Williams does. If it performed a...

Never tried it, though.

Re: Mince Pies etc

Gary - that used to be something you could do. If you still can that would, indeed, be best. Many years ago, when I first started flying as part of my work - when you registered for the frequent flyer programs for the various airlines there was a box for meal choice. Kosher was one of the choices. T...

Re: Gillette Scores an own goal

Let's face it - we seem to be bombarded with the notion that men are not much more than buffoons. How many articles have been published in recent years denigrating men? How many TV shows depict men as dolts barely able to have any kind of rational thought? We hear a lot about the "war on women" but ...

Sam, with khaki I refer brown or tan footwear.

With denim I can see either color working.

But that's me.

Re: Schick Proline P-30 (Artist Club size) blades

Gary, may I assume these are for your General? I am very interested in your take on them - I have been tempted to buy some as well. On a separate, but related note - is the General available in silver, but NOT the more expensive stainless steel? I have the black aluminum, curious if they did a silve...

Re: Marseille/Aleppo/Castille soaps, Yardley, Mitchells Wool Fat

I used the Kirk's for a while while we were still in Georgia. I liked it, never really noticed that it dried my skin, though. I remember that someone mentioned Kirk's being good for the body, but poor for the face (really old SMF thread). Up until a few weeks ago I was using MWF bar soap. Very nice ...

Re: Cyril Salter solid shaving soap (tallow)

Is this only available in lavender? I notice they have several different scents in the cream (including rose!), but not for the soap.

Also - I note that he offers two sizes - 100 and 70, both seems to be tallow-based. Am I missing something?

Re: Tiger making a comeback

Not a Tiger fan. Not that I don't think he is a talented golfer - for he is. I would kill to have even the poor game he has struggled with over the last few years. I quit tracking him after his caddy waded into the gallery and assaulted that photographer. The golfer was in the wrong, but his caddy's...
