I just switched to the DE after a 30+ year absence. Last multi-blade was the Mach3. I am still adjusting, but no nicks or dings yet, and, like Ichabod, I enjoy all the things he listed. I think my shaves are as good as, on my cheeks, but better down around my adams apple - the DE does a much better ...

Here I go

Squire,

I did use that logic - better job, lower costs. More eye rolling.

The clincher, though, may have been last night when she realized that at 10:00 PM I still had not gotten too scruffy. She had to admit my face felt smoother than usual.

Available soon?

That IS a great gesture.

I'll keep a closer watch for this - one of those DE's looks interesting.

Can somebody here tune up a TEch?

Bought Gillette Tech on EBay the other day.

Opened the package this morning.

Overall nice shpe (I think).

BUT - I did notice that on one side the bar is slightly bent, so it is not parallel with the head of the razor.

Is there somebody on this forum that can tune this thing up?

Thanks!

Creams VS soaps

To the SMF forum, I have tried 2 creams (AOL sandalwood, and Bigelow), but no soaps in my brief time using a DE. I know many people probably swear by one or the other, and opinions on this are probably going to be as varied as a discussion on the best blades. But - I am curious if one or the other t...

One last thing on this thread - As would be expected - I did get a certain amount of eye rolling and other excitement to bear when my wife and I discussed this. I maintained my dignity (read that here on another post, and it really says it all doesn't it) and discussed all the reasons for my decisio...

Thanks to all for the guidance -and to Mantic, thanks for the audience approval -- great start to this day. Decided not to use the oil - just went with the same setup, with the same results - two for two. Did not shave all weekend, so today I went at it with three days growth. Decided to try the Big...

Wow, a long day! Well - to recap how this went for my first DE shave in over 30 years (fairly long post again - sorry): Used the red tip that I just got. WalMart Persona blade AOS Sandalwood - the cream, no pre-shave oil Tweezerman brush (which I think I like better than the brush that came with the...

From 1963: Just for us!

To all, In 1963 Bill Cosby release a comedy album. Great stuff. But - there was a small bit in the recording about shaving. Naturally I found it on Youtube. Follow the link - there are 3 tracks in this slice - the shaving track is the third clip. Enjoy! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cLVum97SozE Gen...

Greetings all, Have been on the site about a week, and made a few postings, bothered a few folks. My particulars: (long thread warning) Old enough to have started my shaving career in the '70's with a DE, but fell into the hype of multiblades a long time ago. Finally decided that the price of the re...

Hey - thanks for the welcome. I guess I should post some kind of introduction on the main forum, right? Lurking/Trolling - Read some posts, looked for deals. Potato/Potahhto BTW - Did pick that razor up. Can't believe it. Good price, too (I guess). So - Now own (but have yet to use): 1964 Gillette p...

injector?

Hi Leroy, and all, Sorry to go dark on you - been traveling, and even now am back at the airport for a Seattle trip. As I mentioned - I bought this direct from Schick in the middle/late '90's. I do not have a sense that the package was marked Japan anywhere on the face of that packaging; I seem to r...

Hi Leroy, Don't know the differences between the N or the O, or the time line for them either. I have an injector I don't really care for. Got it new from Schick, online, somewhere between '95 and '99. Never really liked it. Razor is silver head with rubberized handle. Looks kind of like the new stu...

Wow, shaving and FP's! Who knew. Thought I was the only one really going old school. Daily writer -- Cross Solo (I think) F nib Blue (for originals at my desk) Pilot Varsity (affordable, from Staples online) I picked up the Cross in an auction from Ebay - they were all over the place a few months ba...

I live in upper Gwinnett county, and we came through OK. Was passing through downtown on my way to the airport Tuesday and can not believe the windows blown out on some of the high-rise buildings! One thing about the storms - there was a basketball game played downtown, and the game went into overti...

I think it re-listed - at least the ad and the text looks the same. I'm going for it. BTW - newbie to the forum. Been trolling for a week or so. Was shocked to really do the math on the cost difference between DE blades and the mach3's I currently use. Did just win a "deal" (I hope) on a 1...
