Gary, how would you say the Kai Original compares to the Feather Pro?
I would be curious to know that, too. May I assume this is for your General razor?

Re: An Atra Anomaly

I get what he did. He sets it high, then the buyer who wants it makes an offer and the seller can accept and do the deal. I sold a batch of tools once - had offers coming in all the time. Some I accepted, some I counter-offered. One company offered a fair price for the balance I had left over. Good w...

Re: Cannibidiol CBD - what's up with this stuff?

I’m just not sure I buy the “gateway drug” argument. I wonder about this, too, sometimes. I never tried it - not once - but had a lot of friends who did while we were growing up. We would have fun weekends, and I always drove. Kept them safe, I guess. They were my friends before I discovered that t...

Morning all,

The brush was badger.

And it was a CVS pharmacy, I guess, but for sure a Target store I was shopping in.

Re: "That Lather"

This is different water than I have at home. I do wonder sometimes how water chemistry beyond the level of simply hard vs. soft water affects things. I have hard water but the soap did act a little differently today than at the house. This is an interesting point, and one I have seriously begun to ...

Re: Average number of Shaves on Artist Club Blades?

Sounds like Kai original will be the way to go for blades; maybe I'll get brave and try a Feather if I like the shaves. Tim - do what feels best for you - but I kid you not - I liked the Feather better than the Kai. I bought three of each from the folks at Try-A-Blade (I need some more of the Feath...

Re: In Praise of the Ordinary Razor

I still experienced the infamous "skin-thinning" attributed to Feather blades. For this reason, I have held off on the purchase of a General. - Murray Murray- I am with you on this. I have Feather DE blades that I doubt will every get used up - Sharp but way too harsh. That said, I do not experienc...

Seen at a Target in Colorado

Greetings to all... I am on the road this week in Denver. I forgot to change the blade on my injector (really poor shave) - and decided to run in to the Target by my hotel and pick up a disposable for the rest of the week. There was something new on the shaving aisle - so I got a couple of shots for...

Re: "That Lather"

Oh - of course. I had forgotten about the Klar. I have a small block of that, wrapped in plastic, in the shave vault somewhere. Rose scent if I recall.

The shape of my block makes it hard to use - maybe I will drag it into the shower and use it like a stick.

Thanks for the heads up.

Re: "That Lather"

I guess it's a bit too early in the morning - my brain is fuzzy - for the life of me I can't think what German soaps there are. Speick, I guess, but what others are out there?

Re: "That Lather"

Palmolive - I bought a shave stick several years ago. I tried it a lot - used almost 3/4 of the stick - and I don't think I ever got a lather I was happy with. No cushion at all. The scent is fantastic (to me) - I wonder if there is a cream in a tube that has that scent, and might perform better by ...

Re: For curiosity; Wilk sticky

I can't say I am surprised about that Type O injector. As I recall it wasn't marketed here in the US very much. I saw them online years ago when E-Commerce was just getting started - you could buy one for about $4.00 with a two-pack of blades. But I don't think I ever saw one in the stores. Rare as ...

Re: Homemade Face Tonic/Aftershave

OK, this is interesting.

But I would want to scent to last a bit longer - I don't do cologne myself - and rely on the AS as a pleasant scent for myself.

Oh - and Everclear? Buy at the liquor store Everclear? Hard to imaging that's less expensive that what you mentioned.

Re: Homemade Face Tonic/Aftershave

Tim, Are you saying that the "base" is 60% of the total? So, if I wanted to make 32 ounces of aftershave I would need 19 ounces of the "Base" (and that 19 ounces would be created using the proportions you laid out) and the balance (11 ounces) would be the scent? Makes me think you could craft a big ...

Re: "That Lather"

My soaps that used olive oil as an ingredient (all of them, actually) were ready to use in about 2 weeks, but I could have used them once they cooled down to room temperature. Not sure why there is a cure time recommendation that long, either.

Re: In Praise of the Ordinary Razor

Tim - like you I picked up the EJ DE89L a few years ago and I really do like how it performs. If I had to choose just one razor for the rest of my life I could easily see it being this one. It handles any blade I feed into it - and the shaves I get from it using what I consider my least performing b...

Interesting, but with a comment of:

"...These are the perfect compliment to modern injector razors that do not require a key..." I guess they won't fit my regular razor?

Hi Gary ... WOW, that IS a long time ago.

I had always intended to try your recipe, then I accidentally flushed all my PM's - and that was where I think your formula was. Wasn't yours based on a soap currently available? McD or something?

Re: Shaving Sticks from Tryphon Enterprises

He was a good vendor, and a nice man. I spoke to him a couple of times - always a polite professional. I remember calling him once after I got some birthday cash to spend on shaving gear. I told him the details and he offered me a nice discount on my purchase to help my money go farther. Also - when...
