Re: Thoughts on this technique I saw on instagram...
I've done that before - with a puck of Williams. Not too different than a shave stick, I guess. Shave sticks are quickly becoming my go-to for shaving. As far as against the grain first - I remember someone posted here a long time ago that shaving ATG first was not a good idea. I'm curious what the ...

Re: Electric Razor Rap
Murray - My experiences were similar to yours - I used a DE in the 70's, then drank the multi-blade punch into the 80's. I found shaving to be a totally awful experience - prone to nicks and cuts all the time. One year I got a decent electric razor for Christmas, and thought I had found the grail. I...

Re: Open razors - the chosen few
Bated is the right word according to Mr. Google.
The idea of a straight razor is a siren song for me. Alas - SWMBO has requested I not bring one in the house.I enjoy reading accounts of straight razor performance, though, and dream of what could be.

Re: Green tea
Love dark chocolate. Green tea is drinkable, but not great.
But - I agree that Apple Cider vinegar is the worst.

Re: Review of the "new" Mitchell's Woolfat
Perhaps that reviewer was one of the many users who had trouble lathering MWF? I never did (and I have a small bit left over I should dig out and use again) - but if it's really better that would be something.

Re: Review of the "new" Mitchell's Woolfat
Phil (BullGoose Shaving) posted a write-up that I saw on my FaceBook feed - a positive mini-review. Non-tallow, but no loss of performance.

Re: Tabac After Shave and Eau De Toilette
I just ordered my second stick of La Toja. Very nice scent, and a good performer - no tallow. If the aftershave smelled the same I would use it, too (but that's another thread).

Re: Is SMF losing its vigour?
I was losing my mind for sure - glad it's resolved. I never got any EMails about this, BTW. Did you get the mass e-mail a couple of days ago? I tried to make the board send one to all members, but I never got a copy, so may have messed it up. Chris Morning! No, I didn't see anything about it. One d...

Murray - How do you control slick/cushion? What helps make it more of one or the other? The amount of water in the mix?

Re: Cream versus Soap?
I never had that impression either - but I think some experimentation is now in order. I don't have any tubs of shave cream, but I do have some tubes: Prorasso red tube (sandalwood) - Nice all around ... scent and performance. Trumper Spanish Leather ... fair scent, good performance. Nivea Shave Cre...

Well ... I thought those had vanished. I bought quite a few of them - and they were great!! Perfect for travel, for sure. Last time I checked his website had finally been taken down - did you buy them all?

Re: Free AOS tallow shaving
AoS sandalwood creams are one of my favorite scents. The soap, to me, still has the same scent, but it also has something else underneath ... maybe the clay? Great performer, just a bit off, to me.

Re: NEW King C. Gillette RAZOR
I saw one at my local Walgreen's the other day. It looks really nice - but I have no sense of where it might have been made. If the box had any clues on it (Germany, Israel, China or Russia) I missed it. I might pick one up for fun - see what it's like. I did that the other day with a Futur knockoff...

Re: Frivolous ADA Lawsuits
I worked for a company quite some time ago that had something similar happen - We were sued over a supposed patent infringement. They were called patent trolls (and this was years before social media) - they would buy up patents (somehow) and then scour current technology for features currently bein...

Re: TOP FIVE DE BLADES in 2023
I like the older blades best (Swede's) - but will limit my thoughts to readily available. Voskhod Gillette (in the blue pack) Personna Medical Prep German Wilkinson (yes -- I bought 2 100-count boxes of the German Wilks years ago from Wendell, and I still have an unopened box. I freely admit I like ...

Re: Gordon or Bernards66
I've sent a message to a clinic where he used to work. If he graduated in 1966 (I think Bernards was his high school) he is probably 75 by now and retired. I know they won't be able to tell me anything, but I've asked if they can pass my name and e-mail on to him if they have any contact info for h...

Re: Is SMF losing its vigour?
I can't remember the last time Vince surfaced -- I like to think he trolls the site every so often, though - wandering the halls late at night, maybe. But the good Doc is right - that was our strength at one point. Lots of posts with people asking questions about shaving, buying/selling on Ebay, her...
