The vendor is a member at SRP and, as far as online web stuff goes, is a decent guy. My guess is you've been confused with someone else. ???

When I am in a rush and want to do a quick (< 10-min) shave rather than use the straight and whip up a lather, I grab one of my DE's and go brushless - two passes and clean up in less than 10 mins (not including shower). It can be done but not nearly as satisfying.

cheers,

Rick

Here are a few of the razors to avoid, which I pulled from the SRP's wiki : "Best Quality" (Not to be confused with Dovo brand razors bearing the legend, Best Quality) "Good Quality" "High Quality" "Special Quality" "Two Man" Cyrill R Salter Kriegar ...

I bought the large specifically to create lather in (I have a brush that is on the smaller size). When I head to Sara's this summer I plan to pick up a small one as well.

Must take forever for a lady to shave her legs with these.

I may hone and strop the open package blade I have and see how long it would take for a two pass shave.

Found another that I couldn't resist buying. Price was a bit high (for me) for a razor that I will never use ($18 ), but the uniqueness of it swayed me. Unfortunately there is some pitting on the top of the head, where it rests in the case. Myatt Ladies Razor plus 3-blade package. For those not fami...

My newest finds ... (pic heavy)

I'd like to take credit for finding this one but it all has to go to SWMBO. She went to a flea market last summer. I asked her to keep an eye out for razors. My only instruction was to avoid anything that looked 'rusty'. She came home, handed me a little red box, said that she paid $5 for it ($6 if ...

In the absence of pictures, I would say that it is likely that the original plating has come off the head revealing the 'copper' look beneath. You can clean it up using a mild detergent / cleaner. I have had good results using scrubbing bubbles, mild dishwashing detergent (the stuff without the abra...

My first straight cost me $25 (from an antique store) - razor was generously honed to perfection by Chris, but generally figure on $15 to $20 plus shipping if you send it away, my strop cost about $20 (very simple strip of latigo leather). Getting the right gear can be done for less than $100 .... t...

Starting with a shave ready straight will provide you with a great reference edge. If you decide to get a hone(s) in the future, you will always have that perfect edge to reference.

Hey Glen,

Welcome over here. I'm sure you've got some restoration porn to show the crowd over here (who haven't seen it at SRP).

Both hands with the straight but only one had with the DE. For 20+ years I only used one hand - first with cartridges then with the DE. When I first used the straight, I tried using only my right hand but found I couldn't always see the blade position so started using my left, which took quite a few...

Strop paste is handy IF your strop is drying out / dry and you want to bring it back. However, regular use and proper storage will prevent this. The natural oils found on your hands will keep a strop in tip top shape. Daily (or a couple times a day) gently rub your strop with your bare hands to tran...

A cappuccino mug works very well - wide enough to prevent clanging the brush handle off the sides. You should be able to pick up a plain coloured one for $2 to $3.

This just in .... Dave still hates the Tech ......

I love my Dave-cast-off Tech.

I voted for "use it" but on the fence with it. If it were mine I would likely keep it unused.
