Gil, I think you mean 'thesuperiorshave.com'. They used to post pics of their actual stock.

Re: Cyril Salter solid shaving soap (tallow)
Slack, thank you for the suggestion but I think I'm going to use them up as hand soap. I much prefer pucks over sticks. Besides, I have what you might call an 'ample' stock of soaps that perform better for me (old tallow AOS, Tabac, Valobra, DRH, Cella, MdC etc. etc).

Re: Cyril Salter solid shaving soap (tallow)
I finally got around trying this new tallow based soap and I'm sad to say this is and odd one for me. It's fine for the first few latherings but as the puck wears down a bit, it becomes increasingly hard to load up and the resulting lather is nowhere near as good. A bad puck, I thought, tried anothe...

Re: Cyril Salter solid shaving soap (tallow)
You're welcome, Murray! New vendors keep poppin' up fairly regularly, I've noticed. Hopefully there's enough business to go around for them all. I wonder if this little hobby of ours is gaining popularity.

Another vote for RazoRock Mamba. I've been using it for the last three months or so with Feather blades and keep getting close and comfortable shaves. Great razor IMO.

Re: Safety razors, that are NOT made of zamak/pot metal?
I've been using the RazoRock Mamba with barberpole handle lately. Mild but efficient, all stainless, very well made and good looking to boot. Apart from the ridiculous name and a slightly longer handle than I'd prefer, I think it's really impressive.

Re: "That Lather"
Palmolive .... I wonder if there is a cream in a tube that has that scent, and might perform better by virtue of being a cream. Maybe this would do (not sure about the scent though): http://forum.shavemyface.com/viewtopic.php?t=56216 As a side note, Wilkinson Sword shave stick is also worth trying....

T&H Sandalwood is still around, although heavily reformulated scentwise a few years ago. Lavender OTOH is gone.

Here's an old house moving against the current, apparently:

No first hand experience, though, so I don't know if it's any good.

She's a pretty dog Phil. It just now occurred to me that she's jumping into the water wearing some type of padded saddle with handles? Does that impair her natural ability to swim? Thank you Gary. It is actually a dog life vest. It basically just aids in keeping her back end up while swimming. I wa...

Re: MDC Rose and Vetyver
Here's one place for MdC samples. UK based but they ship worldwide: http://shavedash.com/products/#!/Martin-de-Candre-Shaving-Soaps-samples-France/p/47080424/category=11579823 FWIW, I have also tried a few of their bath soaps and they all smelled more or less the same to me, probably due to a quite ...

Re: MDC Rose and Vetyver
Murray, I don't get any of the original MdC scent, only a lemony scent, which is quite mild off the jar but much stronger lathered up. Still milder than the original. I like it. I also like the original MdC, so if there's anything similar in citrus, I may not be able to detect it, since i don't find...

Not cheap, but if you must...
EDIT. There's Citrus also (which I already have).

Re: I need a new soap.
I prefer tallow soaps but I could get by with Savon du Midi, if I was forced to go vegan. A 75 g puck goes for around 3 to 4 euros this side of the pond. They also make soft soaps, but I haven't tried those. I don't know if it's availabe stateside.

I have a couple of the big all metal handled ones (chrome over copper, I believe) and while the Omega 48 may look the same, it is not. The Zenith is much bette...

Musgo Real is the best balm I know and it is really soothing on any minor irritation I may sometimes get. Luckily I haven't really experienced major razor burn since my very first de shave many years ago which left me looking like a baboon's backside (some might say my face still looks like that, mi...
