Re: boars and horses

It's moved from a brush that was almost sold to one that has a permanent place in my cabinet. I have had exactly this experience. I have two that I've almost gotten rid of, but after time, I've really started to enjoy them. They aren't as broken in as my boars, but I can now see the potential. I li...

Re: WD,EJXL and Plisson Synthetics

Actually I can't tell a lot of difference between the 30mm WD and the 25mm EJ in size or performance. The 30mm WD has a glue bump that keeps it from splaying as much as the EJ so size wise both brushes feel similar when using. I like them both and the WD is quite a bit cheaper to buy, so value wise...

Re: Recommended brush drying time

I used the one on the left for 7-8 years daily before BAD set in. It's still my favorite, going strong with plenty of life in it.

I have a newer-model Injector (Model N, I think). It's as close to a no-brainer as possible. I have shaved with it once or twice. It isn't the closest shave in the world, but I would have had to work hard to get it to hurt me. If you want to buy it (at a lower price than they're going on Ebay), giv...

Re: Straight razor restoration CD Book?

(With no replies I've edited the title of this post to make it clearer what I was looking for) Wondering if anyone has the William Dean Ellis (aka Billys blades) cd book on restoring straight razors and if so, is it worth getting? I've seen several references to his cd book but I've not seen any re...

Advice for second razor DE or Injector

I am learning to shave with at straight razor and need something for cleanup and the days that I am in a hurry. Currently I am using a Mach3 and I want something different. I am leaning toward an Injector. I have a thick beard and want a low learning curve (need to focus on the straight). Thoughts?

I tried Trader Joe's cream a while back; it is Alba Botanica cream licensed for Trader Joe's - same stuff. At any rate, I tried it back in the days before I used a brush, so I cannot comment on how it lathers. Addressing your question from a more general perspective, though: some creams that are ma...
