The Shave Den aftershave splashes contain witch hazel, aloe vera, and glycerin. You can also add allantoin to it for a small fee. Saint Charles Shave's aftershaves splashes don't have all of those ingredients, but in some cases have equivalent kinds of ingredients (from my understanding -- I'm no ex...

I had a Feather ACD-N that I eventually sold. I didn't like how it shaved -- I either got a clean shave that didn't last, or I got bloodied up. I've never used he shavette styles, but I suspect that they would be the same. For me the DE techniques were even more necessart wih these disposable-blade ...

FS: Shaving Brushes ** ALL SOLD **
For sale are several shaving brushes from Rooney, Shavemac, Savile Row, and Saint Charles Shave. Each brush was cleaned prior to the photographs for this post. They've all lost the occasional hair, but none of them would be considered a "shedder." I'll accept PayPal, personal check, or mon...

How does the Lizard's edge look under a loupe or microscope? If it looks jagged or chipped out, maybe it's got a problem with weakened/compromised steel near the edge? Based on some anecdotes that I've read, you'll have to go back through your progression, and observe the edge as you go. Once you se...

Gordon, That makes sense since you've got extensive DE experience, and at least some open razor experience. However, with many coming to it initially, I get the sense that they're too tentative with the razor. They slow down for fear of a severe cut -- scarring, bleeding out, and wind up with poor r...

Go Gordon! My respect for giving it another shot. xChris has a great rep, if any straight is going to do the trick it would be one of his. Well, we'll see. I said at the time that I assumed that eventually one would just get used to it, as one does with many things. I tried every conscievable angle...
