Re: Coming home and seeing the changes after two years…

There has been talk this board in the past of the "Great Shavepocalypse." It seemed like an excuse to buy and try more stuff in preparation for said event. Judging from what's been happening since the "pandemic" lockdown lunacy, I'd say we are well in to the Shavepocalypse, as we...

Re: Tiger making a comeback

Tiger's career peaked in June, 2008 when the played in the U.S. Open against his doctor's advice. He won, but wrecked his knee in the process. His career has been downhill ever since. His latest injuries haven't stopped some Tiger "fans" from speculating about another comeback. Ha!!!!!

Re: Socks

In the beginning there was Smartwool, currently selling for $18-20 a pair in stores. The magic ingredient is Merino wool, which does not itch, and the socks are machine washable with minimal shrinking. Have located similar socks on eBay and Sierra trading post from other sources such as REI, Gander ...

Re: Lockdown Lunacy

My Ortofon X3-MC gave up the ghost last year after 25+ years of faithful service. It was purchased from a mail order house on Long Island for about $120. A few years later I found a local shop having a sale on it for about $95. That second cartridge is now in a Pro-ject arm on a Music Hall turntable...

You get just enough to tantalize after which you hit the paywall. The marketing weenies at Gillette/P&G went as far as they could go with these time honored
word to live by in America:

"If more is better, then too much is just right."

Re: Indian Green Box Gillette 7 O'clocks, a Review

At the risk of reviving such an old thread about a blade that doesn't get much attention, I just received 10 cartons of 10 from India, for $8.10. I'll have to go with Squire's statement on these: "I like the yellow box Russians slightly more but the differences are slight and perhaps not even n...

Stumbled on this thread a bit late, but I consider myself fortunate to have met three people who
were combat pilots in WWII: P-40 in North Africa, B-24 in Italy, and a former neighbor flew
dive bombers in the South Pacific. Nothing like talking to people who were actually there.

Re: I’m looking for very mild safety razors for sensitive skin. HELP!

Razorock Baby Smooth? but out of stock right now. I’m always want to try so bad but has been out of stock like more 5 Months. I have a number of the vintage razors mentioned in this thread, but I've lately between rotating between the Razorock DE1 (Baili 171) and the Dorco PL602 and see no changes ...

Re: Derby Blades, A Review

After years of trying vintage Gillettes, Schick Krona, and Lords, I've settled on two current design razors that work better for me: Dorco PL602 and Razorock DE1 (a.k.a Baili 171). After getting good results with Treet Blue Special/Black Beauties in the DE1, I noticed a pack of Derby Extras sitting ...

John, I thought that they quit issuing credit cards with RFID. I have an "enhanced" driver's license that has it, but it has a special foil-lined pouch to prevent RF signal escape. My problem is that wallets with top-loading pockets cause my credit cards to crack and break. I want an old-...

I've had to deal with some two-faced people over the years, and IMHO, they're to be avoided if possible.

I still have about 1½ sticks of Irisch Moos left. Great fragrance, but maybe too much of it. Can't use it for more than two shaves in a row without feeling irritation from it. As we head into the dry winter months, I've found the best lather for me is from an LEA soap stick, "con glicerina y la...

Re: Gillette 7 O'clock Review

When this thread started years ago, I had gone through one pack of these blades in a Gillette adjustable razor. I found them a bit too sharp for me given my technique at the time, and not so smooth as, some vintage NOS blades, and a newly discovered favorite, the Shark SS. Also the four thick wax sp...

Re: Is Plisson still in the hunt?

Could be Plisson has lost market share to online sites like Italian Barber, Maggard's, etc. Reminds me of a statement I read nearly 20 years ago that the World Wide Web is deflationary, as people can find the best price on something in a matter of minutes. That said, my two most recent online purcha...

The local Rite Aid store used to carry Real Shaving Co. cream in 150 ml. tubes, and it was a bargain when on sale for $3.99. The stuff disappeared from Rite Aid shelves at the end of 2014, and in early 2015 it was announced that Creightons had sold the brand to another company. I managed to get two ...

Re: Horse hair brush

Earlier this year the local Target store was showing the Cremo horse hair brush by Vie-Long. This gave me a chance to examine one up close, and it had a nice feel, no smell that I could tell, but was a bit pricey compared to what I could get a larger Vie-Long for online. In view of the stories about...
