Re: Trumper Sandalwood creme.
Love all of Trumpers scents. Rose and Violet are my favorites. The slickest, closest shaves I get from Mitchell's wool fat shaving soap. Since you're going to try tallow based soaps, you might want to give that one a try.

I know it's a bit off the mark, but it could work.

Parma Violet
I am getting dangerously close to finishing off my tub of Saint Charles Parma Violet shave cream. The problem I now have is that it's a scent that's no longer available. I was wondering if anyone here had any suggestions for replacing it. I have Trumpers Violet and it's close, but not quite there as...

Ok, my razor burn is way worse than that. I have found that improper technique and a dull razor blade will definately have an affect on my shave. As an example I got what I thought was a wonderfully close shave this past Sunday. It was so good I was going to post my results here. Then Monday came an...

As an aside. I was on vacation two weeks ago and neglected to pack deodorant. I'm running late for dinner and don't have time to run down to the lobby of the hotel that I'm staying at to see if they carry any. Then I remember that the Alum block and those deodorant crystals are basically the ...

Shaving poll
I had such a wonderful shave experience this morning it got me to thinking. How many times a day does everyone here shave? I know that there are some every day shavers out there, but it's just too much for my skin. I need to shave every three or four days, sometimes only once a week. That said I was...

For an acceptable shave I don't go ATG, but for BBS I need that third pass. After the second pass I rinse and put on a fresh layer of hot lather. Let that sit a moment and then very gently start go against the grain. I have to pay close attention to blade angle and what my face is telling me. That u...

out of curiosity why is it so polarizing? is it the size, heft?? thanks I do believe that weight is a factor as well. Being so hefty you need to rely more on technique and a light touch to get a good close shave. In my experience, some lighter razors can stand a touch of pressure to guide them alon...
