Re: Email from D.R. Harris re: new sandalwood soap and cream

Hi Everybody. I know, I know, I've not posted here for a VERY long time, but I spend most of my shaving forum time at The Shaving Room over here in the UK. Saw this thread and thought I'd post. After replying to an email from DR Harris, I was lucky enough to receive a sample of their Sandalwood shav...

The first blade that I tried in mine (I've since sold it) was an Astra, but I found that a bit too sharp. I then went to a Shark Super Chrome, and that seemed to be a nice balance of being sharp enough without being dangerous. I did once use a Feather in it, the word "once" telling it's ow...

I've noticed that chaps that make straight razor shaving look easy, often do not follow the advice given to the average new straight razor shaver.

Start on the sideburn/cheeks - Nope
Use short strokes - Nope

I've used both the 37C and 39C version of the slant razors, and don't really find that they remove more hair than a "normal" DE razor on the WTG pass. The most effective razors that I have used for WTG beard removal are the Merkur Futur and the Muhle R41 (the 2011 version), the R41 is espe...

Give the Tabac scent some time to "settle".

When I first used Tabac the scent was quite strong, and, I have to admit, a little off-putting.

After about a week, it seemed to get better.

The problem with trees in public places is their inconvenient habit of getting damaged by wind, and then bits falling off them. I suspect that the local authority thinks "if this falls on anybody, we'll get sued" - as is the culture these days. So they simply chop them down. For the last 1...

You have to take into consideration the time when scuttles were developed. It's likely that very few houses would have had hot water from a tap, so having something to carry both the soap and some hot water would have been useful. I have tried to use scuttles myself, but have found them surplus to r...

I watched an interview a week or so ago with a chap named Brad Friedel. Some of you across the pond may know of him, as he is from the USA. He's currently a goalkeeper for Tottenham Hotspur and is 41 years old. When asked how he keeps going, his answer was... Yoga. 41 and still playing Premiership F...

I've not done that myself, but you're not the first person that I've heard of doi it, and I doubt you'll be the last.

Not long ago, over on TSR, we had a chap complain that he was having a hell of a job lathering his soap.

It transpired that he still had the shrink wrap on it!!

Hi Chaps, I don't get in here much, these days, but I thought, having owned and used both of these razors, that I'd chip in. First of all, I have found the results from shaving with both razors as pretty similar. Using the same number of passes and the same soap/brush/AS, my face feels much the same...

I've tried both. There wasn't much in it for me. The heads are identical, and given that your hand controls the pressure (or lack of) the extra weight didn't seem to make a difference.

I sold my 39C, bought and kept my 37C as it is just easier to manouvre.

In the past, I have found that a product that I initially didn't get along with, can sometimes come good after not using it for a while. It's a very pleasant surprise when that happens.
