I found the old Gillette Blues to be a fine blade, IF you like carbon blades. I enjoy the Treet Black Beauties, and the Gillettes were just a notch better. I think it will really depend on weather your blades have some corrosion.

Shower shaving? How'd I miss this post! Yes, I think it's a great method. Great beard hydration; lather doesn't dry out on your beard too fast; easy and thorough rinse; no messy sink to clean up. But I did need to install a small wooden shelf above the shower to hold all the shave stuff. And, of cou...

Squire had it right. It's the razor that's the problem, or the technique. When I used the Fusion, I would push hard against my face. Yeah, it was a close shave alright. But my face was so raw that I couldn't shave again for 2 days. Also, Blake, the "twin blade" disposables are not the same...

Gillette Super Blue blades

Mullard recently posted on how he gets carbon blades to perform best: use it for the final pass. However, just this morning I used the sharpest/smoothest blade in my life, with the resulting "perfrect shave". And it came in the form of a pack of Gillette Super Blue blades that I picked up ...

You gentlemen don't know how refreshing it is to hear favorable comments about the #74 Original. I just thought I was weird for liking such a floral and antiquated scent. The potency of the #74 Original AS is perfect. I can't imagine using the more potent cologne. As for the Victorian Limes, I loved...

KAV, I recently dipped into that "baggie of oddball brands" while waiting for my Israeli Personnas to arrive. If I load them into my Futur, they can be tamed, and even present a great shave occasionally. A couple years back I got a real surprise when I mustered enough courage to try the Tr...

..I was the last USCG boot company to use them. My USCG boot camp also used the M1 for marching, PT and inspection. (KILO company 128, June 1988). They were not functional, but we had to keep them CLEAN. At the range, we qualified on the M16, 9mm Beretta and the now abandoned Colt .45 ACP. Sure wou...

My 2-pass shave: ATG first, WTG second. If I don't use a final WTG pass, my face will be covered with these very small specks of skin. The WTG pass will clean it up. I mentioned this phenomenon a couple years ago, calling them "skin burrs", and don't remember if anyone could relate. Am I s...

Personna Reds. Last year I got them for 10-cents a piece. Now they're up to 16-cents, and they're currently out of stock! (OK, reality check: 16-cents per blade is still ridiculously cheap) I need to learn to hoard.

If you haven't tried a quality shaving CREAM yet, then I highly recommend it. A good cream isn't so finicky about water, and , I believe, more forgiving about technique.
Proraso (C.O. Bigelow), TOBS & Trumpers will work.

"It's not a race, it's your face" - Oscar (Rasco) I think of that one often.

I also second the opinion of Marc. Let a bad shave be. Tomorrow will be better.

If the internet stores allowed you to download a sample scent, we wouldn't be having this discussion.

I think a b&m store would have the best chance of surviving when traditional wetshaving becomes a fad.

Very nice website. I especially like the fact that your vintage razors have many high quality photographs. If I'm gonna shovel out $55 for a slim adjustable, I want to KNOW what I'm getting.
