I've had both and prefer the safety bar. You might also consider the Lord Premium L6 with the Merkur like head. It is a little milder than the real Merkur head, but more aggressive than the Gillette Tech or Super Speed. The Lord may be purchased for about $12 USD delivered to North America. The buil...

I have had the Mergress, Progress, the Vision, and a chrome and satin Futur. I preferred the Futur. I sold the satin Futur to buy the chrome version because I liked the looks of the chrome. I did not feel a difference between gripping the chrome or the satin Futur. I have never had a problem with th...

I seem to get more shaves in my Feather AS than using the same blade in another razor. I regularly get 4 shaves, and sometimes 5, with a Feather blade in the Feather AS. In any other razor (Futur, Slant, Merkur HD, Gillette NEW, Gillette NEW Deluxe), I get 3 shaves with the Feather blade. I don't kn...

Yes, the price is off putting, but it won't wear out and amortized over the years of use it's cost isn't much at all. I have read numerous posts by folks stating that they wished the build quality of new razors was like the old Gillettes. And replies to these thoughts stating the cost would be proh...

IMHO, the Feather AS is a relatively mild razor that provides a very smooth shave. I think it is more aggressive than the Gillette Tech or the SS. I have not been able to get the closeness from the Feather that I get from the 37C Slant. That said, the Feather is super smooth, and provides a great sh...

Paul, I came upon my method through experimentation. I had read the various ways people recommended on how to load a blade onto a Slant. Most of them worked for me some of the time, but it was inconsistent. Finally I just put the cap on the counter with the shaft pointing up and put the blade in and...

Good score. Be careful loading the blade. Slants require a little more care than other razors. Looking at a properly loaded blade from above, the blade edges should be parallel to the cap edges when loaded correctly. The way that works for me is I put the cap down on the counter with the shaft point...
