So, in a nutshell, this is what I've found.... After going back to Merkur, 1.5 years later, I do manage to get a very good 1st shave with them. The second shave is a different story. Some irritation sets in 30-60 minutes after completion, although the actual shave feels somewhat ok. Tried changing t...

Well, thanks for the comments. I'm currently using using them now, and I will review them when I feel ready, which shouldn't be too long :-) Like many other have said, it was the free blade that came with the razor, so there's almost an automatic bias formed when you self-butcher your face on your v...

Has the good old Merkur blade ever been reviewed by Squire or anyone else on this board? Can't seem to locate anything.

Ron, our information is Merkur has their blades made under contract which means they may be sourced from different factories. Any review would apply only to the blades I have on hand and may be different from the ones you have. I can say Merkur blades are not bad, at least the ones I have used over...

Regarding these blades, from what I have read elsewhere, currently Wilkinson Sword on produced blades from their German factory. No more from the UK or other locations. Whatever is on the market now not made in Germany is just remaining stock. Any truth to this? And how good id the Wilkinson Classic...

I have an email from the export manager at Lord Precision Ind. that confirms that all Lord (Platinum Class, Super Chrome) DE blades are in fact the same blade, with different branding of the box for different marketing. Also, they're not platinum coated at all, they're Chromium coated . The Super St...

514, Many of the more experianced members here use a drier lather, whether they favour soaps or creams. I have for years. If your intention is to shave really close and still avoid irritation, it is the way to go. It is also the reason I don't use cold pour soaps; I can't get a heavy enough lather ...

The origins of Merkur
Anyone know the origins or Merkur?
When was the company founded??
All I could find anywhere after an exhaustive search is that they were bought by Dovo in 1996. That's it that's all as they say.

T&H Made in ***************?
Anyone notice that some of the Truefitt & Hill products are manufactured in Canada? For example, their Ultimate Confort lines of cream, oil, and balm, and also most of their facial wash and bath products, etc. Their more traditional shave products such as the 1805, Trafalgar, Grafton, and other ...

How does does it take to BBS?
Derby or Feathers, my BBS shaves runs about 20-25 minutes.
Is this considered excessive? How long does your BBS shave take?

Feather VS Derby VS Feather
Is there any truth to the fact that I've come across in this board, but more so in B&B that Feather don't seem to deliver as many shaves per blade as others, say a Derby? If anyone has consistently used these two particular brands, can you comment on both, which is better and why so? (leaving co...

T&H Trafalgar
I recieved a sample of Trafalgar from T&H. The scent seems to wear out somewhat fast, perhaps about 2.5 hours at best.
