I remember when Gramps was a fixture on the forum in the early days. When I first encountered him, I remained convinced he was using a picture of the character actor, Wilfred Brimley, as an avatar. Older members chuckled at this, because many of them had also made the same mistake. I was only convin...

Jani,

On the rare occasion when I wear cologne in the summer, it's Millesime Imperial. I've sampled Virgin Island water also, but I am unfamiliar with the rest of the ones you listed. I hope you share your impressions of all of these.

Question: Do I need to book ahead of time for a hot later shave?
While they probably take walk-ins, it's probably best to make an appointment ahead of time.

I must confess I feel a touch disappointed and saddened that the illustrious Omega Capodimonte did not make the final cut.

Thayer's Witch Hazel with Aloe and Proraso Dopobarba Splash. I am skeptical either of these will help with ingrowns.

The often blanket denunciation of cartridge razors and canned shaving products on this and other shaving boards is a bit overdramatized IMO. Yes, for many here, the double edge razor, shaving brush and mug, represent the Way, the Truth and the Light, but let's not lose sight of the fact that hundred...

Tim,

Yes, I should have specified that I was referring only to the creams. The soaps are different animals altogether as far as scent is concerned.

To my nose, the Coconut smells like cheap suntan lotion and the Almond like amaretto liqueur. I don't much care for Sandalwood in general, so that leaves Limes, which has a great subtle scent and is one of Trumper's classic shaving creams. All of this is personal preference.

Thanks for the encouragement guys. I'm just going to have to sit down one day and go through the manual and learn the basics at the very least. I've seen some pretty sharp pics taken with the TZ5 so at least I know my camera is half decent.

And Ren, I have a TZ5 and not a whit of ability, and I get OK shots. Give it another try, I encourage you! The problem is that I started pushing buttons willy-nilly and now I don't know how to get back to the default settings. I don't have much patience for reading the manual, assuming I can still ...

Welcome Zee, The Truefitt & Hill location Chris mentions is probably the nicest barbershop in Toronto, but that won't necessarily guarantee you'll get a competent shave from one of the barbers there. Other locations you might consider are the Terminal Barbershop at Bay/Dundas (near TBBS and Toba...

I bought a Panasonic Lumix TZ5 thinking it would be an idiot-proof point and shoot camera that would deliver Rustybladesque pictures. I am living proof that it is not the camera that counts but the man behind it.

Rufus, You're welcome. I've found the all cotton socks wear out much too quickly, so I've gone to a blend that has more synthetic content. These are quite comfortable and are not like the synthetic socks of yore. Simcan is reasonably priced at about $8-10/ pair. If you're interested in sock garters,...

Thanks, Ren. Are they available in a variety of colors and where can I find them? Danny Danny, Diabetic socks come in a variety of colours, fabrics and lengths - all at varying price points. Danny, I tried sock garters many years ago but found them too troublesome for daily use. For the days when you don't want to bother with sock garters, you might consider wearing diabetic socks. These are designed without the top elastic band of conventional socks, but have elastic thread woven throu...

This is yet another one of those questions for which there is no definitive answer, but if I were to hazard a guess, I'd go with almond, which seems to be common among many of the old British and Italian firms.
