Re: Shaving schedule

I must be the outlier here. At age 74, maybe I'e been brainwashed. If I don't shave every morning, I look scuzzy and feel as if I don't matter. Shaving, grooming, and dressing makes me feel good about myself. I don't mean getting "dressed up," just something upscale from PJs or sweats. I'm fine wit...

Re: Sustainability

Thankfully, just as suddenly as it disappeared, I've regained my ability to get a great lather from boar brushes! :D It seems to be related somehow to the fact that I got rid of my other boar brushes and have bought new ones. In particular, there's a Zenith B15 that seems to be outstanding. So much ...

Re: Diet soft drinks

Here's a follow-up question: Is there any improvement over 'diet' soft drinks when the brand offers a 'zero' beverage? Isn't that just the same as drinking flavored water?

Re: Tiger making a comeback

It's going downhill fast. Unfortunately he drove his vehicle off the highway into a deep ravine yesterday 23February2021 in Los Angeles and suffered several severe injuries. Not life threatening, but playing golf again isn't going to be on his short list for who knows how long. I wish him the very b...

Re: What Did You Hone Today?

Yesterday I just wasn't in the mood to shave, so I didn't. Today's rough looking two day growth inspired me to use one of my favorite old straight razors - the Rodgers & Sons. It did a great job. If memory serves correctly, this was a flea market purchase from way back when I was starting out. In my...

Re: Sudoku anyone?

After I figured out how to play and win every time, I've lost interest. Not totally, but as with most other games, I get little or no satisfaction from playing against myself and "winning". I already know I'm a winner! 8)

Re: Wtb feather Portable

A few years ago someone was selling fake Feather Portable razors. Here is a photo of the fake. The razor is wrong and the blue case was a dead giveaway to the fake. Authentic Portables came in a clear plastic case. Here's a photo.

Re: Opus X - the cigar and the perfume

Posting this I was hoping for some engaging if not mildly spirited discussion. Probably my failure to communicate well, so, does anybody have any background or experience with these highly regarded products? Are they worth owning and/or talking about? 😀

Good morning! Massive snowfall and temperature of minus 2 F outside today. And it's Monday! Nothing like a great shave to guarantee smooth sailing. Today and 45 mornings ahead with a rotation consisting of 3 nice tallow based Fine shaving soaps to look forward to! First up will be Snake Bite, follow...

Re: kai blade inquiry

3 or 4 years ago (just before I started using the General and the SE blades) I sincerely considered the Kai DE one of my best DE blades alongside the Personna hospital use, Swedes, Spoilers, Super Iridiums, and Brazilian Platinum Plus. Just another one of those crazy YMMV moments. 😁 I will venture t...

The homemade tobacco scented soap ran out today after 58 great lathers. The absence will be short due to the switch to a stick of cedarwood scented homemade.

Clive, keeping in mind the differences inherent to a thin flexible DE vs a rigid non-flexible SE, if memory serves I think I had positive experiences with the Kai DE blades.

Mardi Gras

What’s the difference between Fat Tuesday and Mardi Gras? Mardi Gras is an all-night party in New Orleans, Fat Tuesday is who you wake up with the morning after! What do you call a hamburger covered in beads? A French Quarter pounder. How do you know you went to Mardi Gras? A1: You wake up on a side...

Re: Shows I'm anticipating - new seasons coming soon???

I'm almost finished with season 2 of Narcos Mexico. I understand it has been renewed for season three, and one of the new actors participating in the third season is the gentleman who portrayed Pablo Escobar in the first couple of Narcos series a few years back. I'm looking forward to it. The proble...
