Re: electric shaver

I think my deal is all about shaving, not really a crusade for, or antipathy against, whatever specific kind of razor somebody else might be using to get the shave they like. Bring on the razors! I'm completely passive when it comes to other folks' choices. It's their money, their time, and their fa...

Re: Shishito Peppers

A moment of research yielded information that Shishito peppers are somewhat sweet, and rarely if ever hot like jalapenos. Earlier this year I had a less than desirably weak experience with Hatch "mild" peppers, and I was disappointed by the mild sweet flavor. I prefer moderately hot peppers, but nev...

Re: Breadknifing before honing

Chris, I can't respond to your post directly, but in the beginning of my straight razor days I used to breadknife old razors with some gusto, due to the fact I was looking forward to the learning curve, which includes giving an old razor a new edge while becoming familiar with various stones. I've a...

Re: Dollar Shave Club and Manscaped

You should give those others a try to see how you like them. In answer to your question as to whether these are good, I say yes, their success proves they're pretty darn good at doing what they do. You've seen the videos, so you know there are huge numbers of folks out there happily using these bran...

Re: My Purchase of the Decade

In the past 10 years I've bought hundreds of shaving related products, at an embarrassingly excessive cost. Now that we are beginning a new decade, the plain and simple SOTD permanently itemized and imbedded below yields the best shaves I've ever known, or hoped to know. Big announcement - I'm not b...

Re: Nascar 2019

Just to bring the 2019 thread to an end, the championship went to car number 18 - Kyle Bush, with my favorite driver Martin Truex Jr coming in second. Now I'm looking forward to the 2020 season which begins on February 16th at Daytona Speedway in Florida.

AOS Rose Absolute shaving cream

First, some background: Recently I got an old and long-discontinued tub of this beautiful cream, and it's excellent. Problem is, it's so old it hardened and I was able to use it by adding some water and stirring. This caused me to explore the possibility of buying a tub of AOS Unscented and adding R...

Re: Shishito Peppers

I was going to sample these peppers, but now it seems my local grocers don't stock them (yet). Maybe I should check with the Mexican, Indian, and Asian markets? After I eventually locate these, I am thinking I should stuff them with cream cheese and wrap them in bacon before I bake them in the oven.

Post this week's SOTDs here. - Murray Why not? :D Made some changes for the new year, but nothing not already referenced below. Homemade Lime soap, Thater 4376/5 silvertip plexi brush, General V2 razor with Schick 30 Proline blade, and finished off with the ever-popular Superior 70 splash. (Wow, BB...

Re: Safety Razor of the Day

I did use the brass General V1 for a few days at the end of December, and after 31 great shaves, the Kai Captain Original blade was used every day. Now we're back to the V2 stainless with a new Schick 30 Proline for the month of January.

Re: Shaving soap or cream of the day

Now that the AOS lineup has completed the rotation for this year, I'm now working on the homemade Lime (no tallow) soap from my original 2013 soap-making adventure. It'll be mid-February before I make the next change.

Re: Coconut Bread Pudding

John, I love bread pudding (most any pudding or custard, for that matter), but I'm not sure about the coconut. :x (I remember my father insisting that one doesn't love food. We asked, "Then how do you say it?" He replied, "You say, 'I like it very much.'" We responded, "But I just love it!" I'm sti...
