Re: Harris soap reformulation

I am hoping that the new formula will perform as well as the new Salter's.

Harris soap reformulation

The new formula DRH soap now lists tallowate as the first ingredient, just as does Salters new formula. Evidently these two soaps now share identical top 9 ingredients.

Re: Allergic reaction from Tweex soap?

I haven`t shave oil or brushless cream in my country but : After experiments I realized that : Palmolive Classic shave cream (EU version), Palmolive soap stick and Williams mug soap works pretty well without any irritation. Williams is the best of them. So, I suppose the problem may be the fragranc...

Re: Checking out some Taylor's soap and creams

Nav, I know everyone has their own preferences and experiences. In my analysis, the Taylor's is on a par with my experiences with Harris soaps. I have learned over the years that the best way for me to get thicker lather from Harris is to overload my brush for at least one, and even two minutes of l...

Re: Taylor's Sandalwood Cream

It's been 2 years since I last used Taylor's Sandalwood shaving cream. This morning it came up for the next few days. Great lather! I had forgotten just how good it is. Thick, protective, slick, and it smells very good.

Re: Checking out some Taylor's soap and creams

After a few days of the Taylor's Sandalwood soap, I've learned that while it does lather and doesn't disappear, the lather's not plentiful. It's more a watery slurry. I think this is a soap that would be preferred by those who don't want a thick rich voluminous lather. I place it 2 notches below Tab...

Re: Face lathering and brush loading (soap)

Since I posted back in the summer I have reduced my loading time to just a few seconds, not 20. The water that sits on the soap is of sufficient volume to help the brush raise a bunch of soapsuds that will turn into a nice lather as I work the brush on my face. I should point out the fact that I don...

Re: Checking out some Taylor's soap and creams

I can't vouch for the age of this one. It was used when I picked it up on a shaving forum probably 5 years ago for a low price, and then ignored it until now. I sometimes wonder if the recipe has been reformulated after this one was new.

The reality is that no matter how much time one takes and what the brand is called, if the razor is crappy there's not much point. I personally prefer a lot less talk and a lot more action!

Re: Review - AP Shave Co Brushes

How well do the natural badger brushes compare to the SynBad knots? Well, never mind: it looks like I can do my own comparison. My lovely bride gave me a gift certificate to one of the local barber shops as a Christmas stocking stuffer. Minutes ago, I went in looking for the Rockwell razors they ha...

my roommate suggested I order from the kosher menu if I wanted decent food.

That's supposed to work on airplanes, too.
I'll try to keep that in mind next time I fly.

Re: Gillette Scores an own goal

Sounds like a hypothetical statement given to a college class as an assignment for a term paper or something. I don't know any males of any age who will live or have lived their personal lives based on a shaving cream commercial. Somebody's obviously lost their minds.

San Diego beach

I took this picture on our recent visit to San Diego at Thanksgiving. It was a tiny bit cool. There were a few wet-suited surfers enjoying the Pacific.

Re: Checking out some Taylor's soap and creams

It took a while, but I'm now focused on my aged wooden bowl of Taylor's Sandalwood soap for the next few days. Very good stuff! The performance and fragrance are admirable, and it's slick! Looking forward to the next few shaves.
