I like soaps better and this is just a good excuse to use them when traveling.

I'm in the minority who likes a DE on my head. A mild razor is definitely my choice - Tech, Weishi, and Gillette Adjustables set low are my favorites. One pass ATG where I don't have much hair left; 2 passes on the rest of my head. I lather with whatever I'm using on my face that day.

I really like the Silver Star blades - they're the sharpest of the bunch. Ranbow and Racers are both good but not exceptional IMHO. Obviously some of it is personal preference. I've seen a couple Weishi razors being sold under the Timor name, so you at least have a connection. Haven't tried them though.

While I certainly don't want to turn you away from an Omega boar, you might see if your local Target has the Shea Moisture Shave brush. Great start for under $10 and the handle is better made than the Tweezerman.

Absolutely! The US Super Stainless blades are excellent IMHO.

I take all my leftover bits from various soaps and smash them in a tin for use when traveling. The traveling Frankensoap works quite well, though not as good as MWF alone.

I find the Aristocrat I still have and President I traded away both shave similar to a Red-Tip Super Speed, except the heavier handle as noted above. I traded the President because I found the President and Aristocrat to shave identically and could get more trade value for the President.

How about #4: Buy 4-6 soaps/cream and try them all for a period of time. Keep 1-2 favorites and buy more to create a new rotation. Repeat until you don't have any soaps/creams you're willing to give up to try something new.

So far, I have 2 I absolutely must keep: MWF and the Speick Shave Stick.

The replies so far have focused on triple milled pucks, which last a very long time. Shaving both my head and face, I'd estimate 9 months for a puck of MWF. I've used a sample of P.160 and found it an excellent shave soap and my favorite of the Italian soaps. Yet, I'm going to MWF more than anything else lately and don't want to stop (not as loyal as Wendell - yet). One of the other forums has a thread going on this line of products. The cream seems to be universally disliked, but the brush (which is pure badger) seems to be great value. It looks like something perfect for a newbie.

Best thing I've found for psoriasis is a shaved head. Not that everyone will accept that solution, but it works great for me.
