A year or so ago, I bought a clean '54 SS off Ebay for about $20. We're talking clean, mechanically perfect, and a fine shaver. I am entirely happy with the transaction.

Stepped away from watching the space shuttle docking with the international space station to shave with my pre-Sputnik 1954 Gillette Superspeed, Williams soap, and some Boosters Polar Ice.

Some of the best burgers/dogs/beefs/fries I've had have been from independent, single owner places. No franchises. Not a fan of formula food.

My '47 Aristocrat is my best shaving razor, no question. Not a museum piece but it shaves better than my HD and Superspeeds (regular and red tip). Derbys or IPs, same smooth outcome.

The brush I've used daily for >2.5 years gets shaken out in the shower and then hung bristles down in a plastic stand stuck to the wall. It gets about 24 hours drying time between uses. Works for me.

I'm from the "less is better" school. Having slight rosacea, I have some background in this. My first recommendation is to stop slapping on more product. The few balms I tried did nothing but redden me even more.

Use mild soaps/creams. I lightened up after my Proraso ran out.
