Re: T&H Luxury Shaving Soap Revisted

I tested the Vintage Blades soap way back in 2012. It was unlatherable garbage and basically okay only as bath soap. T&H at the time did the same thing. If T&H has improved more recently, that's good but they should toss any old stock that's the unlatherable stuff. It appears GFT has not imp...

FS: L'OCCITANE CADE AFTERSHAVE SPLASH (Discontinued) + CADE

Up for sale is the legendary, discontinued, unobtainable L'Occitane CADE after shave splash. If you have been around the various shaving forums and other shave sites for awhile you know what this is and you know how much of a bummer it is that it is no longer being made nor sold. I bought this item ...

Re: Sandalwood Scents

The closest I have used that smells like "real" sandalwood and not sweet clove/cinnamon perfume is Fitjar Sandalwood cream and Nanny's (the UK artisan soaper) shaving soap in the puck form.

Re: G.F. Trumper Rose Soap

Maybe about a year ago, a lot of stores were still selling wood bowls (i.e. not refills) that were manufactured in 2008 and earlier, these were the "good" veggie formula pucks. The post-2008 refill puck that I tried was garbage. I do not know if there is now a better version out there but ...

It's a dud. A couple guys tried it a few years back on another board. Too bad because their BR cologne is absolutely wonderful.

This is one of those "cold process" soaps made by someone that doesn't really understand how shaving soap is supposed to function.

I have pucks of Arlington, Lavender, and Marlborough, as well as the Almond stick. All of them lather up with ease, with very little thinking or effort on my part. Maybe I just got lucky or my lather technique is well suited to Harris soaps or something...not sure....but I have definitely used other...

Gordon, I think a lot of us out there are frustrated with the UK brands' shaving soaps. At least Harris and TOBS are still making soaps that do what they're supposed to do. Why the other brands don't want to invest in proper user testing and batch testing I can't say. It really is perplexing. On the...

The Cyril Salter soap I bought a few months ago was excellent. It's sad to hear another product has gone downhill. Regards, Rick Rick, where did you buy it from? It's possible your puck might have been from an older lot/run or what I got was from a really bad newer batch. Since Salter doesn't reall...

I would like to hear about the latest version of T&H Luxury shave soap. The stuff I bought years ago was top tier. I know you probably don't like referencing posts from other boards on here, but here is link to my testing on UK Shave Soaps that I did recently. Pics included. Unfortunately, the ...

Are the Salter and T & H soaps the same? I know they seem like the same soap, but I thought I read here that they weren't. Regards, Rick They are supposed to be similar but different. Since Salter doesn't appear to package or label it's pucks somehow with ingredients it *might* be possible that...

A recent puck of T&H Luxury I purchased was unlatherable, nothing but watery airy foam despite trying everything under the sun with it. The current stock of Vintage Blades and Cyril Salter soaps are just as bad. I would not get your hopes up for this one.

Oddly enough, the aftershaves are very simple. I rate them highly based on the ones I have tried. Used lime today in fact. Never tried the soap. I would like to see them make a simpler recipe with less chemicals. Perhaps something like a stateside version of MdC.

I bought this cream awhile back and previously bought the Barbon cream. Both creams and aftershaves are good, but the Figaro has a much lighter scent than the mossy scent of the Barbon. Performance is quite good.

I was wondering the same thing about Klar...yet I don't really need 500g of any soap...overloaded on soaps already...might be up for a 100g brick if anyone buys the big 500g package and wants to saw off a block. If you want a nice rose scented soap, and don't absolutely require that it's a hard trip...

Your experience with the rose mirrors my recent experience. Shoddy stuff and impossible to get usable lather from. A few years ago gft veg pucks were fine but this current stuff is garbage. T&H and the current stock of vintage blades brand pucks have the exact same problem. All worthless.

Can someone point me to, or post an in-depth review of this brush? I'm particular interested in how soft the hair is when face lathering and what you would compare it to.
