Well I have ordered the popular sample pack from Connaught and they should be here in the next day or two. I am tempted to try the Astra first as it would seem they behave just like a Derby, when a Derby is having a good day. But, after 9 years of reading about Feathers I am going to finally t...

Yesterday was one of those dream shaves. This morning I skipped the shave due to the fact that yesterday's was so good. Now tomorrow will be a good shave because it seems every time I skip a day the next time I shave I get very good results. You're not the only one.... I still don't know why I get ...

Hmmmm..... another interesting development. After that first shave with the new tuggy blade, I decided to hand strop it and try it again for a second shave and what do you know, it was much much better. No tugging or pulling, smooth shave and very smooth face... 8) Now whether it was the hand stropp...

Well after my joy with the first Derby blade I loaded the second one from the pack I bought and this one was a bit tuggy.... Still got a great shave with it, but I had one tiny weeper, first one in years, and the shave didn't last as long either. Has anyone else experienced inconsistency with Derby ...

I must admit, I'm not sure I want shaves to last that long either... However, back to normal yesterday.... I loaded a new blade from my pack of Derby's that I thought I'd try and after an amazing 4 shaves from the first blade I was.... How should I say.... Unsurprised and a little disappointed...

I usually use Taylors shaving cream due to the top shelf quality and the middle shelf price, but I saw a few tubes of Erasmic cream in my local chemist shop and they were priced at only £1.29 a tube, so I thought at that price I'd give it a go and picked up a couple of tubes just to try it. I figure...

The Shave Of My Life... Still BBS After 19 Hours...!
I'm not quite sure what happened today. I only own one razor and one brush.... and at the moment only one blade and one shaving cream.... I'm not exactly afflicted with AD's. I have good shaving kit, but very ordinary..... Razor is a Merkur 34c HD.... Brush is a Dovo long handle.... Blade is a cheap...

Well that's interesting.... It would seem re-reading my last thread from 3 years ago, at the time I bought my HD, it would seem I must have bought a pack of Derby's or had them given free with the Razor..... and by the looks of it I wasn't bowled over by the experience. It looks like I thought they ...

Time For My Regular 3 Yearly Post.... Merkur Again & Der
Yes... I'm back again and still shaving... I have been using a brush and cream forever, but only started using a DE razor about 8 years ago. First I had a Merkur Vision, then I bought a Futur, which I had for many years. 3 years ago I decided to shave off my goatee and realised that the Futur, altho...

You know I was thinking about this question when I saw it and I have to say I think I'm a half and half. I only use creams now and I scoop out some cream and put it in my lovely chrome bowl and start to mix it up with my brush, when it starts to get a bit lathery I then start on my face and really l...

You know, I really think I am in a very small minority, but I just don't like anybody's floral scents... Rose, Lavender or Violet. However I really love Taylors proprietory scents, Mr. Taylor, St. James and Eton very much. I also like the wood, spice and citrus scents too, so I may dare to give T &a...

Time to try the 3rd T.... Which Truefitt & Hill cream..?
I have for many years been a Taylors and Trumpers man. I love the Taylors esspecially as it's nearly half the price of the other two T's but I can't live without Trumpers coconut as they're the only ones that make it. I tend to like all the scents apart from floral ones, and have nearly all the Tayl...

Hey Matt, If it works and you're happy, who is to tell you any different. I think the main reason most of us champion the DE razor is we are all fed up of paying a million pounds for 4 cartridges, so we spend 4 pounds on a million blades (Just ask Squire... ) However once you start getting int...

Well, I tried the Derby today after years of using only Merkurs and I can report that the shave was excellent, but I do have a bit more face burn, and for the first time in years I actually got one tiny weeper. I used it in my HD rather than the Barberpole to keep things constant. So it's obviously ...

When you tried the Swedes and the UK Wilkinsons you may have gotten a burn due to applying a tad more pressure, being used to the Merkurs. But I guess it's a moot point now anyway. Regards, Gordon Wel you say that, but I actually still have one pack of the Gillette platinums so I could give them on...

You're going to hate me Gordon, but when I first started using a DE I did try a few blades... Wilkinson sword, Gillette Platinums and the Merkurs, and I have to say I absolutely hated the Wilkinsons and the Gillettes. Even with the most gentle of touches they made my face burn, but the Merkurs were ...
