Re: Review: Bath House Cuban Cedar & Lime

In my own case, I avoid hard milled soaps because they are all (that I know of) scented with fragrance oils. Fragrances all smell like bug spray to me and they burn my olfactory. Essential oils apparently don't hold up through the extra processing of milled soaps. - Murray Actually i believe most h...

Re: Review: Bath House Cuban Cedar & Lime

Thanks for sharing this review. Too bad it doesn't get more guys trying it. I'm glad to hear that it's a good performer. Lol you're right! I don't think there is much interest in hard milled soaps, especially those that don't already have a good reputation. I'm very happy i took a chance with this ...

Review: Bath House Cuban Cedar & Lime

I'm a real big fan of hard, milled shaving soaps and recently wanted to try out some soaps that really don't get any airtime on the forums (I recently posted a review of the Baume.be soap, which was a TOTAL DUD!!). In fact, I wasn't able to find any forum reviews on this soap from Bath House. So, in...

Just to clarify, how do you know this?
I'm psychic!!

Just kidding...
By reading many of the posts on various forums.

Re: Fine Accoutrements Shave Soap

Just to clarify, The maker of Fine has stated that he reverse engineered the Tabac formula to create his soaps. Most users of fine soaps have agreed with this and basically call it Tabac with better scents. I have 6 Fine soaps on the way and am looking forward to them very much! (Fresh vetiver, sant...

Re: Mitchell's Wool Fat

I now make my own Woolfat shaving sticks, it's very easy to do, I just use a cheese grater (smallest grating section) and then pack it down into an empty D R Harris shaving stick container using the back of a bread and butter knife. When you screw the base of the stick it comes out just like any ot...

Re: Speick Soap Stick

Whilst i agree that nearly every scent is love it or hate it and that's why the huge variety in artisan soaps means there's literally something for everyone. However, the funny thing is that I've only had a skin reaction from 3 or 4 commercial hard soaps whereas my skin reaction rate from artisan so...

Re: I need a new soap.

The bath house Cuban Cedar and Lime... It's a divine scent with great performance!! It doesn't get any talk time but i bought it on a whim and knew i was taking a risk as it may be a dud but it turned out awesome in every way! Upfront you get a tangy lime grapefruit which is backed up with slightly ...

Re: Edwin Jagger Soaps

I've had sea buckthorn and Aloe in the past and they were pretty decent actually! Not sure why i sold them off to be honest.

I've got the Muhle sea buckthorn on the way and will hopefully pickup the ej limes and pomegranate in future.

Re: Speick Soap Stick

I'm wondering how a thread about Speick stick doesn't get any responses? Out of the 70 soaps I have in my rotation, Speick is in my top 3, along with MWF and LEA classic puck. Everything about Speick is awesome! It loads up really fast, it lathers up so rich and creamy, provides an awesome shave wit...

Re: Musgo Real

I read good reviews and thought there must have been a reformulation. I bought two pucks after reading the positive reviews and I was not disappointed! Awesome shaving soap, just make sure you ask the retailer for the reformulated formula as my retailer had both in stock. Lovely Musgo Real scent and...

Re: LEA classic cream

It's always good to hear about someone finding "the one", and being able to get backups! Good for you nav. LEA has a history of tinkering with their formulas so I didn't want to take the chance. If there is a reformulation announced, I'll probably pick up a few more but 15 is good for now. I have t...

Re: LEA classic cream

Any experiences with LEA soap ? I ordered 2 pucks of the LEA Classic soap a couple of months ago and first few lathers were a disaster! Very thin and a bit foamy. Shave was below average! The scent was amazing and subtle menthol was a delight on the final cold water rinse. These two factors kept me...

Re: Lea Classic Soap

The classic puck has become one of my all time favourite soaps.

The conbination of slickness, protection, scent, skin-conditioning and sublte but refreshing menthol really make me reach for this soap very often!!

Re: Backups for soaps and creams, or not?

@ Gary - very true! The first couple of times I used LEA Classic, I thought I'd just wasted my money on 2 dud pucks but once I dialled it in, it became one of my favourites! It is rock solid and requires a very heavy load and it doesn't like too much water either. This is my favourite type of shavin...

Re: Backups for soaps and creams, or not?

nav could you tell us a bit more about the LEA Classic soap? Sorry, just saw your post... The LEA Classic has shot up to being my 2nd favourite shaving soap, after MWF (or perhaps even equal MWF!! ) The scent is just awesome! It's sandalwood and moss, which means that it isn't totally woods...

This makes sense to me. I really like my long handle Progress. Too bad I didn't own it while our friend Cooncat Bob was still among us. I'm still on the fence about sending it to Mer for a knob and a tune-up. I know it would look like a million bucks with a new knob, but I like the little plastic k...

I know this is a very old thread but this issue is coming up more often on the various forums. I thought I would post the advice I received from Merkur regarding the uneven exposure on the Progress: If the gap appears slightly uneven, it is due to normal tolerances and not an indication for a defect...
