I traveled across country for a wedding/vacation and a business trip out of state with a puck of VDH in the plastic container. One can travel with VDH in its plastic container.

A new soap from an old friend

:D I was using a gift card on Amazon for some household stuff. I trolled the shaving stuff and, as a result, preordered a three pack of Van Der Hagen Luxury, Unscented Shave Soap scheduled for release on or about March 24, 2011. There is a scented version, but the scent isn't specified. The price is...

If I remember right, a member named jbc (?) once wrote that he worked for Gillette. You might be thinking of me. My current office is less than 1/4 mile from the Gillette complex in South Boston. About 40 years ago one of my older sister's friends worked in either marketing or product development a...

Re: Bernie Madoff's New Razor

Just re-read this post, and I need to get a life. J. PYZ. You don't need to get a life, you need to advise your wife that shaving is cheaper as a hobby than a Ferrari F430 and it's upkeep. What he deserves is a corroded Gillette "Psycho" and some of those really cheap, off price (...

People have reported that if you can find Gillette double edge blades in stores now, they're high in cost and not very good. I haven't seen them for a while, either, what with Gillette having so many razors and cartridges of multiple blades on the store shelves now. Some of the DE blades that Gille...

I think we have enough anecdotal evidence to support the belief that it's possible to extend disposable blade life with certain devices. Even a few dabs of alcohol on the edges will often give me a few more comfortable shaves from a blade that had been painful to use. That's a pretty easy test - ta...

Re: Which DE Razor Blades do you like?

I decided that to make poll that you can vote on which DE blades do you like? Many people have try many samples that what is best for you. Some like it and some don't. Every skin is different. Lately, I got a good shave but not the best. Which blades is more popular or less popular blades? How long...

Paul, welcome to the rat racer's club. Yep, it's an L-type. Looks like you're using current Schick blades, which will do okay -- but if you want to kick things up a notch, find some NOS Schicks on eBay and see what this jackrabbit can really do. I managed to score some Schick Krona injectors not to...

I scored five packages of Schick Krona injectors a while back on Ebay. They would date from the late 1960's or early 1970s. I am still on the first one and it is remarkably smooth. I think I have had five shaves (the problem with a rotation of razors) and it should be good for a few more.

I like balms in the cold weather, right after a splash of witch hazel. The brand of witch hazel is not important.

Today I picked up 2 packs of these and on the bottom it has some Indian writing which I don't know what it is. They are definitely made in India and by Gillette. Em's Place, Kell's, Prarie Creations, St. Charles, Mama Bear are all great soaps and great values. I have had great results from Laurelstone, a tallow soap, from Oregon, and Papa's Log Cabin and Barn Full, a glycerin soap. The latter is from Missouri and sold on Ebay. Both are among the least expen...
