Re: NOS Colgate Barber Soap

I'm also a lucky holder of one of these rolls. Truly fantastic soap. I bought a roll of it several years ago thanks to a heads-up by you on these forums...and I completely forgot about it! I'm going to dig it out and try it. I just looked up that post. It was 6 years ago and you still haven't tried...

Great idea. An Adjustable was a big help to me starting out and I still use it most of the time even though I rarely adjust it any more.

Re: What bath soap are you using right now?

Colgate Deodorant Beauty Soap, with lanolin and hexachlorophene. From 1956! It has a little seal on the wrapper commemorating the 150th anniversary of Colgate-Palmolive. Colgate & Co. was founded in 1806, so that's how I get the 1956 date. Remember hexachlorophene? It was in just about everythin...

Re: Nancy Boy body soap, conditioner and styling cream

I like the Signature scent best, though Blossomwood is also good.

I like variety in soaps and switch around quite a bit but the NB soap is one I keep coming back to.

Their shampoo, more than their bath soap, is fantastic for me, and I find it isn't even necessary to use conditioner.

Re: Top Secret shave cream

I'm having a similar issue with a tube of "O Melhor" cream, another Confianca product. In fairness, it is over two years old. It's at the point where it's becoming unusable, though, kind of like D.R. Harris creams used to get. A tube of Veleiro of about the same age is okay so far, as is a...

Re: Ingram shaving cream

The runniness has been a recurring problem, and is sometimes ascribed to tubes which have been exposed to excessive heat in shipping. For that reason, it might be best not to order it in the summer.

Interesting, Oscar. I got some of the Gillette menthol from Shoebox last year and it said Made in UK. Pretty sure it was old stock, though.

Re: US Open

After seeing more of the course, I like it, especially the native rough (that sounds slightly naughty). It doesn't seem to have slowed the pros down.

Overall, a pretty boring tournament, though, with the winner never much in doubt, like McIlroy at Congressional.

Re: What bath soap are you using right now?

Agree about the Swedish Dream Sea Salt soap, although it is a bit rough on the skin -- I assume it is pieces of rock salt? Anyway, a couple of weeks ago I was looking in the back of a cabinet for something and found a box of three soaps from Caswell-Massey, which they call the Presidential Soap Coll...

Re: US Open

Didn't get to see much on TV and it seems it may almost be over, barring an epic Kaymer collapse -- not that these things never happen (see Adam Scott in the 2012 British Open.)

I thought the fairways looked odd with all that brown. Is that the way they looked originally?

Re: Pennzoil has a new synthetic motor oil

The website Bob Is The Oil Guy (which is the equivalent of SMF for motor oil fanatics) got Pennzoil, which is a division of Shell these days, to answer some questions. http://www.bobistheoilguy.com/pennzoil-q-a/ Question 8 asks for the diference between the new oil and the existing product; the comp...

Re: Carbolic Soap

Anyone who remembers Lysol in the brown bottle will recognize the carbolic - phenol smell, although I believe Lysol no longer has phenol. Lifebuoy advertised it would prevent "BO" and it smelled strongly of carbolic, too. Apparently it is still made in some countries; at least the Vermont ...

I was interested in trading in my iPad, too, but a little concerned about getting all personal data off of it first.

Don't really feel comfortable leaving the job to someone else, either. Did you do it yourself?

Re: Tell me again; what's wrong with Dial?

Maybe it should be noted that Dial hasn't used hexacholraphene since 1972 . According to the always-reliable Wikipedia, hexachlorapene was suspected of being a carcinogen, but was cleared in 1978 after a study by the National Institute of Health. It is legal to use in the US, but only as a prescript...

Re: Comparison of Current Popular Shave Cream

A couple of points, Johnny Drum is produced by a small family concern but they don't make it, rather they buy it in bulk then slap their label on it. I'm sure you know more about it than me, Squire, but I had understood Willets had started distilling again. I haven't been out there for a few years....

Yes, I am. Funny, I can't find it on Amazon, although there are a lot of old Williams ads. Hmm.
