do gentlemen exfoliate?

Just wondering, cause I honestly have no clue - but do true gentlemen incorporate "exfoliating" into their daily routines?

Are the exfoliating facial creams really necessary, or would a gentleman's routine consist of a good wash followed by a good shave?

Thanks Squire...I'll try to take it slow, and to respect the process. Maybe that will minimize the bloody face episodes...lol

This may be a stupid question, but isn't it better just to apply a toner to help close up the pores, followed by a face lotion to moisturize?

For scent you would then use a cologne...

what is the purpose in even using a balm or aftershave?

Thank you so much to everyone who has taken the time to share some of your wisdom with me. I'm at the very beginning of my shaving journey, but the support on this board really helps welcome me and provide support. It will probably take quite a while, but someday I'll be able to do what you all do. ...

ha ha...thanks Glenn! Actually I don't have any blades...excuse my ignorance, I thought a box of blades was a box of blades! Is there a difference? Where would I get the ones best suited for shaving? Oh and as for the aftershave...I was just going to use a Nivea men's post shave lotion with spf......

is this a good start?

Hi everyone, This is my first post...I've been reading as much as I could, and I'd like to try wetshaving. From what I've been able to gather, this is the best I could come up with! How does this look for a starter set: 1. Merkur HD Hefty Classic Safety Razor 2. Fine badger hair brush 3. Geo F Trume...
