This sounds a lot like "Go buy a new brush" :D

Contacting Rooney?

My beloved Rooney has become a shedder -- 5-6 per shave, and getting really annoying on the face and jammed in the razor. I can't figure out how to contact them, though. I gather they are now City of London Brushworks, but that website takes me to some South African shave retail site. Any advice on ...

Re: Vetiver

Just posting an update and thanks here. I was looking for a good spring scent in both AS and soap and had wondered if vetiver was the way to go. After looking around at Smallflower I went with Stirling's Arkadia and a tub of Fine's Fresh Vetiver Soap. This board is always the best resource...!

Mike, it's good to have you back! I'm sorry to hear that you were afflicted with the Virus, but I'm glad that you weathered it so well. - Murray Fortunately for me I have longed worked from home, well before the pandemic, and I wasn't too sick to work. In some ways since I couldn't even leave the r...

I get it -- just now!

As my profile will attest, I started wet shaving over 10 years ago (the same time I started my account here). I've stayed "in the groove" to varying degrees over the years but always had the sense that I still wasn't doing something quite right. The shaves were never as close as I got with...

Re: COVID survivors

Checking back in after a long while. I tested negative back in the summer but my doctor didn't believe it, and neither did I. I started with complete exhaustion and mild body aches to a decent fever and a little more serious body aches. The temperature bounced up and down for a few days. Between ons...

The rancor one can find in some forums has always boggled my mind -- what in the world about shaving gets folks so up in arms??

Thanks Clive. I will probably get Levis, Lee or Wranglers.; When I lose some weight, there is a store in Nashville called Imogene and Willie's that sorta makes a custom pair for you around $200 and that is about the price of the Japanese and niche brands in the article. Right now, I have a husky tu...

Re: good sipping whiskey?

Mike, you and I must have been going to the same college! :D Those were the days! Oh, my aching head! I worked all through college and frequently look back in amazement: how in the world did I manage to party all night and then get up for work early the next day? If I attempted that now, someone wo...

Re: Sustainability

Doc Moss’s original post gets at an important point in the abstract: it is very, very tempting (and easy) to make a stand on this or that ethical point, but very, very hard work to think those stands through to completion. A consistent ethic often requires far more sacrifice and discomfort than som...

Re: good sipping whiskey?

Rum as mentioned above brings back memories concerning my late father-in-law. He was a WWII Navy enlisted sailor. He was gunner's mate on destroyers, 3 of which were sunk in the Pacific. He said he had the distinction of never getting his feet wet as he went from one boat to another. He liked his r...

Re: good sipping whiskey?

Only too happy to join Gary in resurrecting this thread... I tend to enjoy a nightcap of bourbon whiskey and just recently finished a bottle of 1792 — very worth the $30 or so price tag. I replaced it with some bottom-shelf Evan Williams 1783, which is a bit harsher. I don’t mind. After a recent imp...
