I had 2 pucks of C&E soap, Sandalwood and Sienna. I sold teh sienna as I never used it and I reacted to it. The sandalwood has an amazing scent! My wife bought it for me and it remains her favorite soap. The only problem I have is that it dries my face pretty bad afterwords, so I don't use it to...

I contacted Mark over at Vulfix just asking a few questions about the different brushes (regular and LE's...etc) and mentioned that I was thinking of a few, and mentinoed the Colonel. He highly praised it for both soaps and creams amongst a few other brushes...so that pretty much solidified the choi...

I think in the end I'm going to go for a Colonel. It's around the same price as the Commodore, but the handle looks like it would be better for me to hold. BTW - I mostly bowl lather. I've tried face lathering a few times and it sure did save time...just the lather was too dry...then too runny...so ...

Which Simpson?

Hey Everybody! It has been FAR too long since I have been here on the forum. I have a question for you all and I am hoping to get some good input. I am looking into getting a Simpson brush. Since I can't afford a pricy one, my mind is set on one of these two: Milk Churn and Commodore (2 or 3) being ...

I grated my C&E soaps because I couldn't lather them to save my life. But now...pure heaven!

This week I decided to try a Wilkinson shaving stick that I was given. It is my first real attempts at face lathering. It is pretty different from the whole bowl routine...especially using the stick. But I find it amazing that so much lather can be generated from a small coating of soap. (...now I j...

Well last night I took the spine off an old gem blade and put it on the feather blade so i could use it in my lather catcher. I don't think I will do this often...seems too much of a hassle, but man did that blade perform wonderfully this morning. it was by far the best shave from my LC that I have ...

I almost sold my bowl of Sienna. My wifeput a stop to it telling me I should just wait. I was having a terrible time lathering the C&E soaps (using my badger and boar). But I had a brainwave with my boar (I honestly don't think I am doing anything different...maybe just attitude) and not I can g...

It is true...too many people get carried away with arguing opinions. Like me. I can't stand Derby blades, as they are very rough on my face and cause pain with every stroke. I prefer personna and feather blades, because to me they seem sharper. But then again, that is my opinion of Derby blades. ***...

That's a nice looking razor! The all white handle is very interesting. I have the R106 and love the way the handle contrasts to the rest of the razor. But the R107 definitely is different.

It's true. The shaves from my SE's last longer than those from my DE's. Although the best shave I can get is still from my Muhle (R106). But then again, if you use someting daily for over a year...why wouldn't it feel like a part of you? How are G-Bars? I have read many good things about them and th...

Did you get the Feather blades shipped from Japan? Pauldog, no I didn't. I bought them from razorbladesandmore.com (American). I had read that one person had ordered them from there and when I checked, they had gotten a new stock in. Though they are pricey (over a dollar a blade). When I decide to ...

I can get 3 shaves...then it is way too dull. I only use them rarely...usually for special occasions where I want a really smooth shave.

I just checked my blade blank and I have a used GEM blade in there so I will try to put a Feather in the spine. I took the blade for another whirl today and it was great. I am interested in finding out how many shaves I will get out of these. If they last for 4+ shaves I will be happy, and I will ge...

I may try it just for fun. I have only taken blades out of their spine...never put them back in, so I don't know how easy it will be.

I think you meant to say VC4. This is the model your Feather blades fit into from the picture you showed. My original one was a VC1 I think (you slide the blade in from the side, and it came in a box labelled "Model C"). I tried a blade last night and it felt more aggressive than my other...

Feather SE Blades and AutoStrops

Yesterday when I got home from work, I had a package in the mailbox. Much to my happiness it was my order of Feather SE blades. I quickly opened it up and beheld these beauties. I ordered them to use in my AutoStrop razor, as I didn't want to keep modifying GEM blades in order to make them fit. Now ...

I wouln't say Muhles are more aggressive than the average Gillette. I went from vintage gillettes ('40s rocket & '58 superspeed were my razors of choice) to the Muhle R106. I find that the R106 is very forgiving, and gives a better shave than any of my Gillettes. I typically use Re Israelis and ...
