I have tried both of the NB shaving creams, and I don't really care for them all that much. I seem to have the same problem with lathering that I had when I tried the brushless cream "Cremo Cream". The lather was slick but there wasn't much of it. However, let me put in a plug for some of ...

Latest Shipment of Plisson Horn-Handled HMWs @ Colonial Drug

All, I recently got a few pictures from Cathy at Colonial Drug showing one batch of recently received Plisson horn-handled HMW brushes. Cathy said these were all in size 12; however, at least one (fifth from left in the first picture) looks a size smaller to me. I hope these haven't already been pos...

WTB: empty Knize Ten bottle

Gents, I managed to break the glass neck off my bottle of Knize Ten, but somehow salvaged about half of the contents. Does anyone have an empty (or nearly empty) Knize Ten bottle (cologne or aftershave, spray or splash - doesn't matter), preferably 50ml in size, that they would be willing to sell to...

FS: New, never used Shavemac 22368 brush

Gents, I have a brand new, never used Shavemac 22368 for sale. I bought a pair of these a while back - one of them I use every day but this one has never seen water. This brush currently is $135.90 including shipping from Shavemac. I am offering this brush for $110 shipped CONUS (Paypal please). (ed...

Trumper Sandalwood cologne - SOLD

Hello all, I'd like to clear out a few seldom used items to make way for some new stuff. Prices include packaging & shipping to anywhere in the 48 contiguous states. I normally use PayPal for these kinds of deals, but I'll take alternate forms of payment for long time SMF members. Trumper Sandal...

I used to regularly pick up No 89 cologne and shave soap, ... I used both of these products this morning, and they are both my absolute favorites of all the colognes and shave soaps I have. Speaking of No. 89 shave soap, what is the latest word on the reintroduction of this? I recall some mention o...

Re: boston/harvard square

Sorry for all the run-ons. Basically, I like the Bigelow store's selection. They're a great local supplement to Colonial, which latter I love but which always seems to be out of more than half of what I'm looking for. And their prices are so high. I agree about stock levels at Colonial. Some days i...

Some journeys on the Boston subway system can get a bit complex...Logan Airport to Newton Highlands springs to mind...but the subject trip from Copley to Harvard involves only one transfer each way twixt the Orange and Red lines. That's true, but if his conference is at Hynes, then it may be easier...

I believe the Andover Shop has shaving supplies too. The Boston location had a small amount of shaving supplies but the store has closed. I guess I need to take a trip to Colonial Drug. How are their prices? I find Colonial Drug's prices to be a bit on the high side. I think buying something there ...

Troy, I used to use No 89 products quite a bit. At that time, the line consisted of; cologne ( both 3oz. & 1.7oz. sizes ), traditional splash A/S, hard shave soap, bath soap, and talc. There was neither a soft shaving cream, nor an A/S balm that I recall. However, that does not mean that they m...

Dang it...I'm going to be less than 5 miles away from Colognial Drug during a conference at the end of next month. Is it possible to take public transportation to get close (I won't have a car, and besides I hear that driving in Boston for the uninitiated is...a challenge)? --Mark Colonial is a mus...

Fantastic! I have an old shaving soap in Floris 89 that I have been excruciatingly parsimonious in using. From this line, I have only used the EdT and the shaving soap. Was there an aftershave balm in this line at one time? If so, how did it compare to the usual suspects?

Re: unsafe soap/cream

i have read that some soaps/creams can discolor a finest/silvertip brush...which soaps and creams are to be avoided when using a finest/silvertip brush? thank you very much. The strongest dyed cream I've come across is D. R. Harris lavender. However, any discoloration that I've seen when using it u...

Re: Coates Tea Tree Cream

I've been painstakingly loooking for Coates Tea Tree Cream. I'm running out and want to keep it in my collection. Anyone have any info? Colonial Drug in Harvard Square had 4 or 5 jars of this shaving cream as of yesterday - $30 each and I believe they offer free shipping to forum members. I find th...

Gents, It's definitely in there - just not listed explicitly. These are the ingredients listed on my (old formulation) box of Arlington Aftershave Milk: Aqua, Adeps Lotus, Sodium Tallowate, Sodium Borate, Cucumis Sativus, Parfum (+/-), Cetrimonium Bromide. The alcohol is in the "Parfum". I...

I'll add to Gordon's point a bit: the Arlington version of Harris A/S Milk has the cologne in it, so it does have some alcohol. I can definitely feel the difference between the two when applying.
