I picked up a decent sized decant of GIT recently, and having worn it twice so far, I am far from impressed. I love Aspen, and Cool Water, and have been wearing both for about six months. I actually prefer the Aspen, and the Cool Water to the GIT. GIT smells the least complex of the three. For the p...

I have the cologne version of both. I think they smell great!!

I don't get the Clubman like notes from Black Seude, if anything it reminds me of Stetson.

If you want a cologne that smells like Clubman, then Avon Wild Country, and Dana's Canoe are pretty dang close!!

This is the Shaving Factory/ Derby/ Ming Shi twist to open razor. It's been on the market for quite some time, and reviews can be readily found. I have owned a couple: I consider it to be better constructed than the similar Weishi, and about as aggressive as a typical Superspeed; way more useful tha...

The O.P. sold the razor after a mere 2 shaves with it.

So much for toughing it out.

I have been working on a puck of QCS Green Irish Tweed Shaving Soap for about the last month. Makes a nice thick lather, and gives a great shave. I think it's significantly better than the QCS Shaving Cream/Soap (soft soap) which I had several samples of. I could get a decent lather from that, but n...

I voted bowl, but technically I lather on the puck most frequently for soaps, and lather in the bowl for creams.

The Schick version looks promising, but that's just based on looking at some photos. I saw a lot of them on eBay. I purchased one of the Omega Schick handles about a month, or so ago. It's mostly plastic, and doesn't weigh as much as I would like. It does look pretty slick though, and does perfectl...

The Dorco Pace 6 is not new. It's been on the market for about 3 years. In the US, it is mostly available branded under the in house label.

My VDH kit, and 3 extra pucks of the scented soap showed up yesterday. Took it for a spin this morning. As mentioned above, the brush was of better quality than I was expecting. The brush shed a few hairs, but was well within the realm of normal for a new brush. The brush is also larger than I was e...

I really like the Godrej Shaving Round.

Generates a nice thick lather, and despite the small size of the puck, will likely still last about a month of everyday usage; I lathered on the puck for about two weeks straight, and the puck is still just slightly less than half used up.

Re: 1st Shave w/Cobra Classic

Thanks for the info, John. I have neither used the Cobra nor the "No Sharpen" Feather razors. So my conclusion was completely based on the stats on webpages from Classicshaving and westcoastshaving. Hopefully, I will be able to buy and use one of the above mentioned razors in the near fut...

Re: 1st Shave w/Cobra Classic

I agree that ProGuard blades may not work with the Cobra, but my guess is that the Feather Light blades should work alright as they have the same blade thickness as the Professional blades - 0.254mm (source: Classicshaving). Only one way to find out; have to get SWMBO on board though. ClassicShavin...

Re: 1st Shave w/Cobra Classic

(still toying with the idea of a Pils and/or a Feather Stainless). For completeness, you should include them, and the Muhle/Edwin Jagger razors as well. :D I just purchased a Feather All Stainless this week, and I love that the design full covers up the blade tabs. Having sliced my ear lobe open mo...

One would have to think this is because it is extremely popular, and thus sold out. I Can't imagine Gillette giving up this quickly.

That said, banning someone is one thing, not allowing his product to even be discussed is something entirely different. Imagine if someone from Merkur was unable to take criticism or had multiple accounts? Maybe a few days in the penalty box but I doubt they'd scrub or remove every word written abo...

Do you have any proof, or can you cite any sources, for your claim that badgers are trapped and skinned while alive, for the sole purpose of using their hairs to make shaving brushes, and not in any way part of the normal food chain? +1 It's my understanding that badger is eaten quite frequently in...

It's long been suspected that Bluebirds are made at the Derby factory, and maybe simply Derby's in different packaging.
