Re: Ming Shi Double Edge Razor Blades
Yes, I thought it was a very decent blade. I was scared to try it. Do you have a source for more?

Wilkinson Sword Classic Razor
The Wilkinson Sword Classic Razor is a plastic razor that I saw in Boots Pharmacy in London. It is widely available on Ebay, Amazon, and from shaving vendors. It is a two-piece razor. It is quite mild, and I had trouble finding a blade that worked well in it. However, I finally got around to trying ...

Re: Suggest a good solid quality DE razor
For $30=$60, I like the Fattip Gentile and the Muhle R-89. It's also hard to beat the EJ DE89 series. The Fattip is brass rather than zamack. For $100 and above, I love the Rockwell 6s which has six plates that can change the aggression. I also am a fan of the Feather AS-D2 which I got on Amazon for...

Re: Charcoal Goods Razor on the Way
I'm very satisfied with the Level One, as I gravitate to mild razors. I will try it with the Polsilver SI or Gillette SharpEdge Russian blades next. I bought 100 Crystal Blades from West Coast Shaving for $12. I noticed a slight degredation of performance on the third shave, but they are still a ver...

Re: Charcoal Goods Razor on the Way
They make beautiful razors. I have the West Coast Shaving Hollywood Palm CNC Safety Razor Level One. I only have three shaves in with a Crystal IP Blade, and it is mild/ efficient reminding me of the Feather AS-D2.

Re: Ming Shi 2000s Merkur Futur clone
Word is that the mid 1980's patent has expired on the Merkur Futur. I don't know if you are a gun guy, but there are multiple manufacturers of 1911's and AR-15's that came out after the patents expired on those designs. Then there are, of course, Generic Drugs. My Feather AS-D2 looks a lot like a Gi...

Ming Shi 2000s Merkur Futur clone
The Ming Shi 2000s is available from Italian Barber, Maggard Razors, Ebay, and Aliexpress.com which is where I got mine. Prices are around $10 or so. I've never had the real McCoy, but is is a great razor for the price point. I didn't like it at first with a Polsilver SI, but I've settled on a Perso...

Re: General / Hawk blades
I'll be interested to hear more reviews, as you work through the blade samples. In my aluminum hawk, I like Feather ProGuard and Kai Mild Pink Blades with the Kais being cheaper. In my aluminum Colonial General, I really like Feather Professional (unguarded) with Kai Mild Pink being a close second. ...

Re: Good Brushless Shaving Creams
I like Trader Joes Honey Mango. It is a sticky cream that requires frequent razor rinsing. It only sells for around $4. I reach for it when I am in a hurry, and it performs wonderfully. I wipe it off with a washcloth. I believe that VDH sells a similar product in stores like Wal-Mart/ Target, but I ...

Re: Schick vs. Personna injector blades?
They are coming out with a version two of the Supply Provisions Razor. I would recommend waiting for that one, as the V1 has some shortcomings. See my other post here today on the forum. However, there is more flexibility, as one can cut down the family of Artist Club Razor Blades from 50mm to 38mm ...

Supply Provisions Injector Razor
A few months back, I acquired the production version of the Supply Provisions Injector Razor which came with three plates to adjust the aggression. I was not part of the Kickstarter for it. I have tried it with a variety of blades including Schick, Personna, vintage, and current production. I even m...

Re: Schick vs. Personna injector blades?
They are both adequate blades, and worth trying. I happen to prefer the all metal magazine of the Chinese Schicks that I find at a local grocery store. I don't like the plastic aspect of the Personna magazine, and have had it separate on me. One of the few good things about the Supply Provisions Inj...

Re: DE razors which are consider more aggressive than mild
Italian Barber sells the equivalent heads that Maggard's Razors does. I have sourced them from both vendors, and they are the same. The mild/medium Maggard V3 is the same as the Italian Barber Protoge or Mission. The more aggressive Maggard V3a is the same as the Italian Barber Mentor. Both are grea...

Re: Your Favorite DE Blade Currently Available
Polsilver SI is my favorite blade. I've gotten them from Bullgoose and Italian Barber which are both trusted sources. Feathers, I get on Amazon. However, I had a bad experience ordering what I though were Med Preps on Amazon, but ended up being Lab Blues. West Coast Shaving has Med Preps, I believe.

Re: My backup razor
Sam, I find the Colonial General to be mild, and a great daily driver. I find the Hawk to be more of a medium aggressive razor that excels on a multi-day stubble. Both are excellent razors. I hope the aluminum version of the General comes back, as it is very nimble. Both are here to stay, but if I c...

Re: Considering leaving DE shaving community
There are probably some other products to try along with the OneBlade Core which has expensive blades. I really like the Colonial General in Aluminum with Feather Pro Blades, but it is unavailable at the moment. It is a very mild/ gentle shaver. For cartridges, there is no better value than the Doll...

Re: Ok, sold DE, now I need to start over
Sam, here are some of my favorites at various price points: For $5-$10, I really like the Dorco PL-602, RazoRock DE1 or RazoRock Teck II which are made by Baili. Maggard's Razors also sells a Merkur Futur Knock Off called the Ming Shi 2000s that is great with the right blade. For $30=$60, I like the...

Gary, what handle do you find works well with the General? I am going to pass on the brass version. At 130g it is too heavy for my tastes.

Re: My backup razor
Gary, you are not the only one that ordered a backup from Colonial! I have two complete razors in the silver finish. One is at my parent's house just in case my house burns down. It is that good! I prefer the Feather Pro over the Kai Mild Pink blades, but only by a small margin. However, I want to t...
