Re: SOTD: December 5, 2016 - December 11, 2016
Brush: Kent Silvertex Cream: JM Fraser's Original Razor: Razorock Chrome Hawk Blade: Feather ProGuard (5) I got a wonderful shave both Saturday and Sunday with the Chrome Hawk. It is relatively mild with the ProGuard Blades. I will try Kai Milds next which shipped to me from Japan after purchasing t...

JM Fraser's Original, Cella, and Arko, oh my!
I am currently rotating between JM Fraser's Original Shaving Cream, Cella, and Arko in a bowl. I also have Razorock P.160 as a back-up which is similar to Cella. We have very hard water, so I have to have products that lather easily. Can anyone suggest any other products that I should try that are k...

Fatip Gentile Razor
The Fatip Gentile Razor harkins back to yesteryear with it's brass construction which includes the head. It reminds me of a vintage Gillette. This is a safety bar razor which is not to be confused with their open comb heads. It is very mild, efficient, and puts quite a curve on the blade. I have the...

Parker Variant Adjustable Razor
I received the chrome version of the initial release of this razor. My first impression was that the quality control on the head is not that great. There is a T shaped part that the top cap screws into. The side that has the notch is higher than the other side which causes a very slight asymmetry of...

Re: First razor for young son?
I would echo what Murray said in that a very mild razor would be best. A Dorco PL602 is an excellent low cost option that would not require a large investment if he didn't take to it. They are available on Amazon and Ebay. I also like the Fatip Gentile which is more moderately priced. If the double ...

Re: Your Favorite DE Blade Currently Available
My favorite blade is the Polsilver SI which I get from Italian Barber or Bullgoose Shaving. They are very sharp and smooth, and my benchmark blade for testing a new razor. However, I only get two good uses before they degrade. Others report many more. My other favorite for mild razors is the Feather...

Re: The Colonial General Razor
I had my fifth shave tonight after work. It went just fine. Normally, blades tend to nick me as they start to degrade, but that hasn't' happened yet. I normally don't get very many shaves out of blades with the hard water we have. Typically, I only get 2-3 with a DE blade. This razor is quickly beco...

Re: The Colonial General Razor
Murray, I got it from colonialrazors.com. They have black and silver. I went with silver, as I get hard water deposits on my razors. It is a mild shaver which I know is your preference. I think that you'd like it.

Re: The Colonial General Razor
Well I had my fourth shave with the Colonial General. I had flipped the Feather Pro Blade after the first three shaves. The fourth shave was just like the first three: no nicks, weepers, or irritation. It was just a good, intuitive shave. Other shavers report 7-10 shaves with Feather AC Blades. I am...

The Colonial General Razor
I recently acquired the Colonial General Razor in Silver. I finally got around to shaving with it using a Feather Professional (unguarded) blade. This is my first time using this variety of blade. Previously, I exclusively used Feather Pro Guard Blades for a few shaves each in the RazoRock Chrome Ha...

Re: Razorock Hawk
That's great news Gary. I'll have to try the Kai Milds. Normally, I'm not a fan of flipping blades between shaves for DE's, but I am experimenting with it in these Feather AC Razors. I am still trying to resist a OneBlade purchase before they raise their prices!

Re: Cobra "Knock-Offs."
Well I had my second shave with the Ikon El Jefe Blemished. I used the Feather Pro Guard Blade for its second use. It is a moderately aggressive razor. I have some Feather Professional Blades on the way to try in the Colonial "The General" Razor which is supposed to be on the mild side. I ...

Re: PAA Prismatic DE Razor
I tend to agree. It is a decent razor, and a unique concept, but didn't really have a hook for me. I'm glad it is in my collection, but it probably won't see much use. I tried the DOC, and found it to be too mild with Polsilver SI. I will try a Feather in it next, and I prefer the DOC a bit more tha...

Re: New RazoRock DE-1
I acquired this. It is the same head as the Teck II. I like the handle much better. I've been getting good shaves with the lowly Derby Blade in it for two uses per blade. I really like the head design, and find it to be a near perfect combination of mildness and efficiency. I am going to try to use ...

Gary, do you have stainless Mongoose? How would you rate it against the Cobra? I would like to add that the Colonial Razors "The General" is available as well. I have one on the way.

Re: Cobra "Knock-Offs."
Murray, to be fair, I have only used the Chrome Hawk for four shaves, and the Ikon "El Jefe" for one shave. The only blade variety that I have used is the Feather Pro Guard which has ribs along the blade edge that act as a buffer. I chose this blade variety, although more expensive, becaus...

Re: Cobra "Knock-Offs."
I have the Chrome Hawk, and the Ikon El Jefe Blem. I don't have a lot of shaves in with either, but they seem to both be great. I am using the Feather Pro Guard Blade which seems to nick me on the fourth use. Others report many more uses of these AC Blades.

Re: PAA Prismatic DE Razor
I had my first go with the PAA Prismatic tonight. I used a Crown King Unscented Soap Sample that I purchased along with the razor, and a Stirling Soap Boar Brush. I loaded my favorite blade, a Polsilver SI, into the razor. The razor has decent QC, and the blade gap seemed fairly even, and didn't req...

Razorock Hawk
I have three shaves in with the Chrome Hawk with Feather Pro Guard Blades. A magazine of 15 blades cost more than the razor did! I have gotten three great shaves, and I wouldn't change anything about the razor. I like it's light weight and efficiency. It was very intuitive, and I don't find the head...
