A good idea is to check and see if they are on any kind of "blood thinning" medications before shaving. If they are, be prepared with some styptic, alum bloc or ice to handle the bleeding from a nick or cut.

I would be very interested and would be there for sure.

I do alot of face shaves at our shop and am always interested in learning or seeing new things. Would also give me a good excuse for a weekend road trip on my bike.

Count me in.

Bryce-----If you are coming to the Chicago area I would reccomend Mario at The Blue Cat in Oakbrook. He has been shaving for over 60 years and taught me everything I know. He uses real straights and NOT the disposables, hot towels, real hot lather NOT from a machine and his client list is a "wh...

I have used Proraso with some customers for years now and I totally agree that it can and does improve shave performance. I apply a hot towel on the face first to remove the dirt and oils and then apply Proraso placing another hot towel over it for 3 minutes. I then remove the Proraso and begin appl...

NB is great and I have used it with customers for years now. I actually have several customers who regularly ask for it. It does cushion a little much for my liking but if they want me to use it I really dont mind.

It's a great product.

It sounds like you are doing great ! I"ve always said (and told customers as well) that it"s not necessary to spend alot of money to start in the art, hobby or addiction of face shaving. There is a learning curve and as time goes by you may want to spend more to buy some nice high quality ...

Even though I do not post alot on here, I will always read the "general" and the "straight razor" topics every night after dinner. It's a nice way to relax. However, if I have some down time between customers at work I will sometimes check out the new posts or maybe see whats for...

Gordon, I cant blame anyone for not wanting to pay for a "Lather King foam disposable blade" shave. Thats not what it should be. However, there are alot of states that have enacted so many restrictions for sanitation reasons that it has taken away from the so called "experience" ...

Glad you enjoyed your first barbershop shave, especially for $24. That's a great price. I agree that "nothing beats the experience" of a face shave and I have always said that some of my customers come in just for the experience and not just the shave itself. Done correctly, a face shave s...

The following website will give you some information about your razor.

www.uniclectica.com/misc/manuf.html

Scroll down to the "D" category and then to "Durham Duplex". There you will find a brief history of the company that manufactured it.

Hope this helps you out.

Because when I use a brushless I will first use it as a preshave whereby I apply it to the face then wrap the face in a hot towel. When I remove the towel, I also remove the brushless cream and re-apply a 2nd coat. The customers who like me to use it for a face shave also like it for a neck shave so...

There is nothing wrong with using a shaving oil and brushless shave cream. I have some customers that actually request it. It does a good job,is easy to use, usually doesn't cause irritation and can be pretty cheap depending on what brand you buy. The least expensive I have found is Gabels. It's $5.9...
