The razors look great, but I don't believe I've ever heard of Renaissance Wax. What is it's purpose? And where did you buy it. It is a microcrystalline wax polish "used by the British Museum and restoration specialists internationally to revive and protect valuable furniture, leather, painting...

Jarmo, Well, if they are not equal to the Iridiums then I'm out. They would have to be that good for me to be interested ( keeping in mind that I can't use Derbys for example ). If any blade 'out there' is not as good as the Iridiums then I might as well just buy the blue IPs which at least don't i...

Dave, I dont think switching razors between the shave etc. is very a trustworthy comparison? You need to shave with one blade at least 2 days in a row for your whole face and I think even longer than that. I do hope them Gillette blue clock blades I ordered turn out to be fine. My judgement to orde...

I was fortunate enough to be sent some Polsilvers to take for a test flight, specifically to compare with Super Iridiums. I used two identical razors that I believe deliver an identical quality of shave and loaded one razor with a Pol. and the other with an SI. I alternated the razors every every th...

Squire, thank you for your comment on tolerance among razors. I particularly like my EJ DE89L, have often wondered about buying a spare, and have wondered if I did would it be the "same". Perhaps not! John, although there can be small differences between the same brand and type of razors,...

Having used Super Iridiums for quite a while I have come to prefer the Dark Blue 7 O'Clocks. Probably not in the same league as Gordon's NOS British numbers but a great smooth blade IMO. Max I don't know what NOS blades Gordon has but compared to my NOS English manufactured late 1960's Wilkinson Sw...

I think those that find a similarity between the Gillette yellows and the Si's do not reflect the majoritiy of experienced shavers opinion anymore than those that find a strong similarity between Williams soap and Trumpers Rose soap. An absurd analogy. Well then, simply substitute with an analogy t...

I too think that the Super Iridiums are a better blade than the 7 O'clocks but clearly opinion is split on this issue. Squire is not the only experianced shaver who feels that they are equal, or even the same. I can't really say that they're 'wrong'; it is just not my experiance. I've not tried tho...

Well done Squire !

I was about to suggest you move your thread re Trumpers soaps out of the Razor and Blade section but I notice some one has already brought this matter to your attention.

David, Well, I think it is primarily a matter of performance for the individual although, admittedly, other less pragmatic factors sometimes play into it. I just can not get a really top notch shave with the blades being produced today. Either they are not quite sharp enough, like say, the blue IPs...

Ken I prefer the Yellow box 7 o'clocks over the Iridiums because I get the same performance from each in sharpness, smoothness and durability, so I see no need to pay a premium for the Iridiums. For that matter I won't pay a premium for any blade, vintage Wilkinson LBs, Personna 74s, or any other. ...

The theory is that the Polsilvers are in fact Super Iridiums dressed in Polsilver clothing. Polsivers were one of the biggest selling blades in Eastern Europe prior to be discontined by P&G in the mid to late 2000's. I think the idea is to re capture the EU market with this superior reincarnate....

IMO, I think it's reasonable to assert that to the majority of experienced shavers the SI is capable of giving a superior shave when compared to Gillette Yellows.

Perhaps the SI's are still made !

Return of the Super Iridium ??

I have had a glorious dream that Super Iridiums are about to flow again like Lafitte Chateau Lafite de Rothschild Wine. The newly announced supply of Polsilvers announced by someone that can't be named from somewhere that can't be mentioned are more than likely Super Iridiums, labelled as Polsilvers...
