Re: What I learned in 7 years away from the shaving forums

The most important thing I learned is that it's much cheaper to be afflicted with shaving acquisition disorders than with guitar and amplifier acquisition disorders. Most days now, I'm using the Dollar Shave Club 4-blade cart and Kiss My Face Moisture Shave brushless. But on the weekends, I'll break...

Van der Hagen TTO w/ Feather
Omega boar
Trumper Rose Soap
Trumper Skin Food
Alpa Fougere Cologne

To my nose, the Alpa Fougere is a dry, crisp Trumper Spanish Leather with some slight booziness around the edges. Very old school.

Traded: Musgo Original Cream for Another

TRADED. THANKS!

I have an unopened tube of Musgo Real cream, original variety, that I'd like to trade for another new, non-lanolin tube cream -- e.g. Palmolive, Old Spice, La Toja, Ingram, etc. I find that lanolin doesn't agree with my skin. Please PM if interested. Thanks.

Of course, if this guy has Asperger's, he might be socially impaired, which would make us all ableists for criticizing his shirt.

Re: Van der Hagen TTO Razor Review

I haven't come across any adjustable current-production TTOs, but my recommended pathway for a beginner would be to try the VdH, then add a Merkur 34C for a more aggressive fixed-head option, then perhaps try the Merkur Progress for an adjustable (but non-TTO) razor. I have those three, and I couldn...

Van der Hagen TTO Razor Review

Van der Hagen TTO Razor - Mild, comfortable shaver - Ideal for new DE shavers - Good overall quality, though somewhat light - Classic TTO styling - Excellent value Thanks to member BeatlesFan for alerting me to this razor. I am returning to DE shaving after some time away, and I'm getting reacquain...

Re: Current Production TTOs

The Van der Hagen TTO is not quite as hefty as the old Super Speeds, but the mechanics are the same, and it's a great little razor for the money. It's very mild, but a capable shaver. For what it is, which is a bid to convert cartridge shavers into DE users, it is perfect -- comfortable, accessible,...

Re: Current Production TTOs

From what little I've seen online, the VdH is the same as the Micro Touch One. I can't confirm that, however. I'm not so gung-ho this time around that I'll put up with an eBay bidding war and wind up paying $70 for a vintage DE with plate wear. A decent new TTO for $17 will scratch that itch just fi...

Re: Current Production TTOs

Thanks for the intel, BeatlesFan. The VdH TTO was in stock at WalMart, so I grabbed one. For $17, it seems perfectly legit. I had already done an evening shave, so I'll need to wait to try it out. I'll report back.

Are there any current production TTO razors that stand up to the old Gillette standards? Thanks for your thoughts.
