I have a set of seven that are my daily shavers, and another for travel. Very sharp, nicely balanced and little worry about corrosion. Chris Mostly true for the inox... but Im pretty sure there are carbon steel friodurs out there too. Also people need to remember that stainless isn't actually rustp...

In my experience, you need a 4. microscopic pitting. I've gotten "shave ready" blades that were edged (cut hair fine), polished (usually up to 12k or higher) and looked visually perfect but gave a pretty crappy shave. A quick look under the scope and the edge had so many gaps from pitting ...

From the side I can't really either. I blame lighting in the pics. From the top it appears the primary difference is how the darker color is mixed in (one looks like it was a wavy core of the darker color, the other looks like it was random strips that were swirled). From the top I like the latter b...

Reminds me of the old EverReady (and other typically American low-mid end maker) Hollow "Swirl"s which were if memory serves catalin. I'd assume it's a modern plastic version of the same but done in solid stock and turned rather than injected (as I assume most of the hollow handled ones we...

I was worried about the mystery handle stock. But really nice. Something I wouldn't expect on an engraved LE brush handle. Will definitely stand out. Now just waiting to see the knots. Also, see if Gary won't take a topdown view of the hair after use/bloom to show the density. I'm assuming he'll be ...

In how they cut? I don't notice much. (The exception being full wedges, which I find lacking in closeness (to the shave) on any finish). I would say that heavier grinds seem a bit more forgiving towards coarser finishes. Extremely hollow grinds tend to get noisy on some finishes that heavier ones wo...

Re: Touchup/Re-sharpening of a Razor

I have read that using a coticule with slurry will have the effect of dulling a razor's edge, which I have experienced. My dvd from Lynn shows him using a coticule with a really light slurry to finish off a Norton 4k/8k hone. Is that edge really an 8k edge that has been made more comfortable but no...

Theoretically any brush can lather as well as the best... it just depends on the user to increase agitation (work your arm off) to compensate for less hairs and to manage water without relying on a particular level of water retention on the part of the brush. That said, there are really two main way...

Don't be surprised if you see a "Joseph n'est pas de Candre" product in the near future :D I'm surprised it hasn't been done yet. The soap is about as minimalist as you can get, and performs great. Add in the crazy price, cost of shipping, and evidently poor customer support (at least int...

I was bidding figuring that if knot was nice... woot.

If not I thought I MAY be able to wrangle getting Simpson to reknot it with the knot used in this LE. Now THAT'd be a special brush.

But yeah, I stopped around $100 and it just kept going up.

So you won that brush. Congrats. Please post pics once you get it.

Misquote? I wasn't even CLOSE to the high bid on that guy.
