Re: Tabac

It's pretty much all I use. As for its effect on the ladies, well, sixty percent of the time, it works every time.

My wife likes it, and I like it. Job done.

Re: Shoe Polish

I don't know about all of this. I've been using Kiwi Parade Gloss polish since I joined the forces in 1982. I still use it on all of my smooth leather boots and shoes even after retiring from the force in 2007. I have, over the years, learned exactly why the military dress standards required polishe...

Re: ATRA on Ebay

I had used them since they came out in 1977 and up until 2007. When the price came to be about $1.00 per cartridge at Wal-Mart, I picked up a package of the ten DE's for about $1.50, and have not looked back. My son still uses the ATRA and loves it. That's about when I began shaving, and that's wha...

Any old manual lens with a k-mount should do, I think. K-mount is a Pentax thing, though.

Pentax K-1000 bodies

Gents, I have a pair of Pentax K-1000 SLR camera bodies for which I have no further use. I bought them to do astrophotography, and they have not had six rolls of film through them.

I can always use some decent DE blades, and will happily trade these camera bodies for some blades.

Oh, I haven't cut myself with a knife in decades. You don't have to do it too many times to figure out how to handle them.

Payback for an old injury

When I was a boy, my dad bought me my own camp knife. It was a beautiful thing, a Camillus model 99, highly polished tools, and brass bolsters. I still carry the scar on the first knuckle of my left thumb where I gave myself a good cut whittling on some stick. I lost that knife, and have no memory o...

I'd sandblast it to remove the rest of that plating and have a blasted steel finish.

Not too long ago, I bought another block of Tabac from Bullgoose. They last for months.

My wife was using those Venus cartridge things until I bought her a Merkur 38R (the red one), and got her her own brush and soap of her choice. She has, since the very beginning, liked the results from the Merkur better. I think she's using a Prorasso soap now, the oat one. Although, she likes my Ta...

Re: Bullgoose Shaving -January 2014 Updates

I didn't need a brush, but I did need some more Tabac soap. While I was at it, I ordered a bar of their bath soap, a bar of lavender bath soap, and a Futur razor. As usual, Phil had them in the post and on the way before I ordered them.

Thanks again, Phil. Service is the game.

Re: Back to a Futur

My apologies for reviving a zombie topic. But, there's little point to starting another that says the same thing. I just got my second Futur (chrome) from Bullgoose a couple days ago. The Futur was my first DE razor, and of course, my first blades were from Merkur. I was not terribly impressed with ...

Re: good sipping whiskey?

Congratulations to you and your wife, Mike. As for whiskey, I am now pinch hitting between two bottles. A bottle of Dalwhinnie, and the standard ten year old Glenmorangie. Interestingly, I have visited both of these distilleries in Scotland. The only American whiskey I like is Maker's Mark, an excep...

Re: Needing new tv

Sam, my profession is electronics engineer. It was my goal at one time to retire from the American Air Force and open my own consumer electronics repair business. You should know that I am not doing that, and will never do that. The reason for that is that there is no living to be made doing it. To ...
