I haven't used gel in many years. I get good results from wax. I recently switched to Tabac hair cream. Phil carries this on his site.

I use Dr. Bronner's liquid Lavender soap. It is fantastic!

I use Tabac Deodorant Stick, Irisch Moos Stick, and Speick Spray. All work great for me. I am wanting to pick up the Irisch Moos Spray from WCS
