Glad to hear that it seemed to go well. I doubt that you'll have any workmanship issues with that brush. Whether or not you wind up loving it ( after you get used to it and you break it in ) is, of course, a personal thing. Thanks for the follow-up.

Gordon

Re: Monotony vs. variety in soaps and creams
Pretty much the same as Squire...whatever it pops into my head to use that day. But I also agree with Squire in that I've found that I get optimal performance much more often if it's a cream/soap that I'm using daily as opposed to one I just use occasionally ( same's true for brushes and razors for ...

Re: What bath soap are you using right now?
Yes, the link that Ron provided is the real stuff. I believe that Smallflower/Mertz may also stock it and perhaps a couple of other online shops; I'd have to check. I found mine locally ( which was a mini-miracle in and of itself as I was getting set to scout around for current online US sources ). ...

Re: What bath soap are you using right now?
I didn't think that I'd be contributing to this thread again maybe ever. Initially I posted about how I'd settled in with the old Vinolia and it's true that if they'd left it alone that WOULD have been that.....but they didn't. So later I posted about having switched to Mitchell's Wool Fat. All the ...

Re: Good lavender scents?
Squire, I'm sorry but Sam's ex was hopeless when it came to gentlemen's scents. His current GF seems more discerning and appreciative ( chuckle ). As I've said here before I've had women from their 20s up to my own age compliment me on both English Fern and Spanish Leather so to hell with all this '...

Re: Crown Perfumery Imperial After Shave
John,
Thanks for the link. Any of their aftershaves were rare even when the stuff was still being made. I don't recall ever actually seeing any live in a shop. Best of luck in your hunt Sam!

Gordon

Re: Review: TOBS Lime Luxury Shaving Soap
Ron, I guess that would be a matter of personal opinion but I'd consider Boellis to be a 'traditional' product. Afterall, it's supposedly been around since the 1920s ( in some form or other ) and Boellis is an old barbering concern in Naples. I don't know; when Boellis first became available statesi...

Re: Good lavender scents?
Rick, Well, the subject has already been pretty well covered above but I'll add my two scents anyway. There is no doubt that scents like what you seem to be searching for have become more and more rare. I am surprised that neither the SMN Imperial Lavender nor the C&S rendition did it for you th...

Re: Review: TOBS Lime Luxury Shaving Soap
Ron, It sounds like that you're good to go then. I used the Taylor's Lime yesterday and, you know, I think that Porter is right; it DOES have a bit of that old timey 'eau de quinine' sort of scent about it. Definitely nice stuff, and white too, which personally I appreciate. I'd not tried a Taylor's...

Re: End of the line for some nice products.
That was an interesting little article...I couldn't figure out how to access the base article to which it referred however. Yes, 1799 is usually the date given for the foundation of the Atkinson's firm in London. What brought his company to the attention of the upper crust first is said to have been...

Re: Crown Perfumery Imperial After Shave
Sam, As far as I know all Crown Perfumery products disappeared from the market over a decade ago. Shortly after Clive Christian acquired the line he began to discontinue some of the scents ( this was in the very early 2000s ) and introduce scents under his own name at ridiculous prices. After a few ...

Re: Review: TOBS Lime Luxury Shaving Soap
Ron, If so than there must not be that much of it as shea butter in concentration usually annoys my skin and I got not a hint of that with the Taylor's Lime. I agree with Porter that the lather is excellent but disagree that the Trumpers is a poor second. To me the soaps are competitive even if I'd ...

Re: After all these years (rose shave soap)...
Richard, Nice to hear from you again. I agree that it's a shame that DRH has yet to provide use with a rose hard soap. Based on my current experience with that Taylor's Lime hard soap, a rose one from them would also be welcome. However, my self personally, I continue to be happy enough with the Tru...
