With all these new blades, I got to wondering if Squire was still doing blade tests and reviews. I reviewed his thread and did not find anything new in quite a while. Anyone else taking that up? But I do enjoy the photos and the descriptions of the grind, etc. Tom; I have just aquired a microscope ...

Phil, what customization exactly is on the Mergress? Is it a shave customization or merely the extra color on the indicator dial?

I am really after an XL but would consider this.

FAKE IRIDIUMS - pics inside - Check your blades

There's a few of us who have been stung by some fake Super Idiriums going around. The latest source was seller 'idiotdoc' from Singapore on eBay. Note this is not the same person as doctoridiot (Jason) from Singapore who also sells on eBay. There is also rumblings from a few people now that they bou...

Absolutely agree. My point was that 3-band just implies that the brush is better, however it may or may not actually be the case, and that is before you apply YMMV.

Re: Personna Red Pack or Crystal Israeli Personna

I am from Australia, and it is hard to get many of the blades locally. I have these. Not in the wrapper, but in the 10-blade dispenser branded as Crystal. Happy to put these in that sampler I offered. The blades I was looking at locally were the Personna Red Pack and on another website I can get th...

Other than mail order I would get the Treet Dura Sharps in the white/yellow striped box. Those are certainly on my list to purchase. However I need to add more products with it, and only try to order one package a month from one vendor. I am yet to order from Bullgoose and he has the Treets at a re...

Probably the best explanation I have ever read. I couldn't agree more. I started on Derbys, and my skills were not that great to start with, and my lather was also pretty pathetic as I tried to pick up the skills I needed. Now, in my mind, Derby's are rubbish blades compared to the experiences I ha...

Blade selection now has more to do with the particular shaver than anything else. Their skin and beard combination, as well as experience and shaving skills will have the biggest effect on a particular razor/blade combination. Lather and prep will also play a part. One school of thought is that the ...

As I understand it, the 'bands' are simply the colors of the hair in the brush.

2-band: Cream colour with black in the middle

3-band: Cream colour, black in the middle, plus silver tips.

3-band also implies higher quality.

The most sought after is easy - Red Dot Fatboys, and Toggles. These fetch huge prices. Anything in true NOS/Mint condition and totally complete will sell for many hundreds of dollars. Yet you would probably never shave with these. Top quality collectable-grade Aristocrats and Diplomats are very much...

I don't think you will go wrong with TOBS. One of the cheaper options, scent is nice, lathers in a wonderfully dependent way.

The only real way to tell is to get a sample of each. I say buy the cheapest one, if you like it then it is up to you if you then wish to try something else.
