MikekiM, is this the stainless adjustable PAL? The one that has the ribbed plastic insert for the inner part of the handle and the rest of the razor is stainless steel? If so, it's an excellent razor and built like a tank. Originally, they came with a lifetime warranty. I have one myself and after ...

I agree.. I consider my Gem too much of a good thing

I picked up a clean PAL injector a few weeks ago and finally got around to ordering some Schick blades. From a price per shave, these are middle of the road.. $4.95 for a pack of seven. Not nearly as green as DE since the injector cart needs to be disposed of, but at least it isn't plastic. I have a...

Do your statistics result from blades with varying numbers of shaves per blade? Did you use each blade for the same number of shaves before discarding them and moving to the next, or did you use them randomly? Just wondering. Interesting statistics and results. No way near that scientific.. it was ...

Collecting the data was pretty easy.. To be fair, the Derby's were the first blades I used.. just a few shaves with very little experience. The other Derby shaves were while traveling since I had just thrown a pack in my travel bag. Mated with a BRW TTO Twist with a Bull Mastiff handle.. the shave w...

My personal blade assessment....

- I've been keeping track of my shaves in an app I made on the iPhone.. I have 165 shaves logged with details and an overall rating of each. With the understanding that the overall rating takes into account a whole load of factors, consider that I have never aborted a shave because of a bad lather a...

Would any of you more experienced folks have an idea of what the cost in USD would have been for this brush when new?

I just took a look at the Shavemac site and Bernd doesn't have this brush listed under their D01 line. Any idea how old the brush is? No, I'm sorry.. wish I did know it's age. You know how it is when you buy someone else's gear.. I only know what I was told... "used about six times" which, well, le...

Update.. I'm having a difficult time putting this brush back in the closet. I'm not prepared to say this is the best brush I have, but if I had to choose just one, this just might be it. So far it has performed well no matter what software I have used.. This morning, Arko stick.. Awesome! Not sure w...

This past week I am shaving with a Gem 1912.. for my face, the Gem can too much of a good thing if I allow it, so I tend to go with just two passes. Still I find a two pass with a proper razor is far better, even hours after the shave, than the old cart and goo would have been just minutes after.

Certainly..

My initial impressions are leaning towards it being a keeper. It has exceeded my expectations and just needs a bit more management of the ratios and load...I think.

I'll keep this updated.

Initial thoughts on Shavemac D01 Two Band Extreme Flattop

Quite an interesting brush.. Purchased from a member of another forum who I believe was the second owner. I was told it was used about six times, but given the slight wear on the engraving, I am not certain this is accurate. Be that as it may, the brush is sweet for sure. 22mm, D01, 2-band Super Bad...
