Two bands tend to be bulbs, have spring to the loft and good flow-though for a great combination. I never understood this, actually. But I will also say that fan shaped ones works better with circular motion,while bulb shaped ones works better with painting strokes. I don't think I've tried a Simpson brush that performed less than superbly with soaps. As with any very dense brush, loading with more soap will be somewhat necessary. It's a hungry brush, so you have to feed it before it will start giving lather back. Still, the baseline density for Simpson brushes...
