Re: Recommended brush drying time

I have a very dense brush that I was using daily for a time. My drying routine is similar to what others have mentioned here: shake vigorously and gently swipe on a towel. I noticed one day that the knot had taken on an unpleasant smell. Checking the base of the knot a day after it had last been use...

Re: Floris soaps performance and scents

I am close to finishing a puck of 89 that came in the tan packaging from about 3 years ago. I plan on giving the new soap a try. Has anyone else tried the latest iteration?

Re: Floris soaps performance and scents

Cathy at Colonial Drug seemed to know about some new Floris products when I spoke to her the other day. Perhaps she knows what's going on with the shaving soaps?

Re: Floris soaps performance and scents

I second Bruno's sentiments. My No. 89 is a good performer but is only worth the purchase if you just have to have the scent. On another note, I received an e-mail notice from ShopLondons that Floris, Here is a link to ShopLondons website: http://www.shoplondons.com/89-shaving-bowl.html Floris's si...

Just got off the phone with Colonial, and all they have are 18s and 20s at the moment. Bummer.

Re: WTB: Plisson HMW size 14

Thanks for the heads up, Buzz. I'll give Colonial a call. I was really hoping someone would want to part with their 2-band size 14 from a few years back...

Re: Simpsons Chubby 3 and Tulip 4

Gary, Did you ever end up with a Tulip 4 or CH3? I am planning to purchase a Tulip 4 in 3-band Super and am looking for any opinions on the brush. The Persian Jar 3 is also in the running. One of my current favorite brushes is the Chubby 2 in Super 3-band. I'm going for a similar sized (medium-large...

Right - I should have been more clear. I'm looking for a Darwin DE, I think they came in Standard and Deluxe models, of which I'm interested in either.

I love the Cobra, but one day when the blade was new, I used it two days in a row, and suddenly realized if I skinned myself with the Cobra like I did the Muhle, I was going to really screw up a good thing. That's why I can say I made a discovery that it's not good, in my case, to try to use the sa...

I am always saddened to see such wonderful items sitting in the back of a bathroom drawer. Some of these things need to move on. I say "some" because I'm still not convinced I want to let these particular items go. All prices include shipping. Payment via Paypal, and I prefer keeping them ...

WTB: Darwin DE

Just throwing it out there - never hurts to ask, right? Maybe someone doesn't like the way theirs shaves. Or maybe someone has been thinking about liquidating a collection. If you have one of these burning a hole in your bathroom drawer, I'm your guy!

I agree with Gary and Mark regarding the performance of the Cobra vs the R41. I'd take the Cobra over the R41 and have. One other thing I find with the Cobra shave is my face stays smooth for longer than with my DEs. That's a close shave. I'll also chime in about the Kai blades: I find they are smoo...

SOLD: Simpsons Duke 3 Manchurian with ivory fleck handle

For sale is my Simpsons Duke 3 Manchurian with ivory fleck handle. Mark Watterson had 4 of these made up around April, and I just couldn't resist. I had not owned or used a Duke 3 when I made the purchase, and I thought it was a sure thing given the Duke 3's popularity. Alas, I prefer a taller handl...

SOLD: Simpson Tulip 3 in 2-band Super

The brush has sold. I am offering my Simpson Tulip 3 in 2-band Super - I purchased this brush used from a shaving forum member. He had used it sparingly, me too. It has not shed a single hair for me. The knot is set at a 57-58mm loft, and at this height, the third band shows. I love the handle, but ...
