I'll play with the constancy some more then and try it many different ways. It's only me second soap, and it clearly goes through a lot more phases when lathering than the VDH puck I started with did. So there is a lot room for adjusting the mixture. I have a decent, I think, badger brush on the way...

Shaving with Mitchell's Wool Fat

I've been using MWF for my last 3 shaves and I was wondering if others experience, what I'm going to call, squeaky skin. It makes my skin feel taught while shaving, and if I hold the razor too shallow allowing part of the surface of the bar ride along my face, it kind of sticks to the skin and bounc...

Kar the lather you're getting now is probably the best that soap is capable of producing. That's kind of what I'm thinking. I can do a lot with it, taking it from one stage to the next. I gave the boar brush a squeeze before loading (a lot) as Drubbing suggested, and it does make a better lather. I think the drier brush must pick up more soap from the VDH puck, and I really didn't add any water after that so I think my lather has pretty much been water heavy from the very start. Ev...

Even with a barber shop shave, the only BBS shave I have ever gotten (at the cost of some neck irritation), I think I got about 7 hours tops. I got it around noon and had stubble that night. I'd be happy if I could even get a BBS on my own at all.

Finding the promised land...

I wish my dad had been old fashioned shaver. After about 12 years of shave hating, I've finally come to the old school methods. I'm only in my 3rd week and I've already said goodbye to the awful neck irritation, bumps, and ingrowns I've suffered from all my life (even with electric shavers). I suspe...
