Gil, Ian, and Marc - The Futur is on my radar as well and I appreciate you it that you brought it up for discussion. The big 3 for me were the Slant, Futur, and Cobra. I'm looking at it as an aggressive progression which may peak with a straight razor after the Cobra. I'm looking for a variety of &q...

warning, if you try a slant, your chatsworth might be effectively retired :D +1 Eric, the slant is truly an amazing razor especially for those with the so called tough beards. Pair it with a feather and have a truly amazing shave Wow! High praise and the proverbial nail in the coffin. At the Slant'...

Merkur Slant 37-C

I'm looking for a razor that offers a different experience from my Chatsworth. No problems with the Chatsworth, just looking for variety. I have the dreaded thick beard/sensitive skin combination. I shave daily which, thanks to SMF, is a good thing. My current impression of the Slant is that it is a...

1+ AGREED WITH DAVID ( desertbadger) marc Does David know that you're watching him in the mirror? To the OP, I have recently become a fan of Witch Hazel as well. It's just a nice soothing finish to the shave. You can pick up a large bottle at any drugstore for about $3. Sometimes I put on a...

......The other option I would consider is a cheaper DE that wouldn't bother me if inspected/confiscated. The razor you have is too nice to have something happen to it. Good idea. Lord, Weishii, Parker, and probably others make inexpensive DE's that wouldn't cause any anxiety if confiscated, lost, ...

Lately my day has begun at 4:30 AM so to save some time I treated myself to an evening shave. It was blissful. Drink: 12 year old Bourbon (fit the experience well, just 2 fingers) Razor: Chatsworth w/feather blade Brush: Kent BK4 Soap: TABAC Finish: Witch Hazel A/S: Trumper's Skin Food w/Limes

Appreciate the good advice gentlemen. I'll leave the Chatsworth at home and take a different razor. I never would have thought to break it down to avoid hassle.

Who would have thought that YMMV would apply to airports?

Have Chatsworth Will Travel

I'm hoping to get some feedback regarding carry on luggage. I'm traveling light to Seattle soon and want to make sure that my prize razor will not get confiscated. Obviously there will be NO BLADES in my carry on (I mailed those to my destination before hand). Does anyone have any recent experience ...

Oh good, an opportunity to pile on Wendell!

I LOVE my BK4. It pairs beautifully with MWF. I will say that I enjoy using my boar brush with the harder QC soap. The BK4 will do the job too though.

I've had one bottle of The Black Grouse and I think it's a good value. At my liquor store it sold for less than their cheapest single malt, and did pack more wallup than The Famous Grouse or Dewars, for instance. I do like peat, otherwise what's the point of drinking Scotch? Originally from bourbon...

They just came out with a "Black Grouse." It's more smokey and peatey than the original. I want to explore the smokier side of Scotch and it is serving as a good introduction.

Bosch makes some gas tankless units that don't require an electrical connection (520HN; 520PN; and 330PN), but they are old-tech (i.e. non-condensing). My company used to carry the Bosch Aquastar line about 10 years ago but had so many quality issues that we dropped them. They later popped up at th...

Oh, I thought the Federal Govt rebates were still there...did they end at the end of the 2011? Is there an instantaneous that does NOT need a power vent in case of power outages? Yes, the "up to $1500" rebate is done. I don't know of any heaters that don't require a power source. Water po...

If you're looking for a good plumbing contractor in Memphis I would call Max Dignowity 909-283-7662. Low overhead, fair pricing, quality work. He may be a better option for you compared to HD.

LOL, a brief journey. Most of America agrees with you. I sold a ton of these when the federal rebate was around. This year more people are choosing the tank style (myself included) after crunching the numbers. If you are buying a tank style water heater I find that the "super efficient energy s...
