Re: Barbasol Cream
I've continued to use the Barbasol cream, and have been pelased to see its continued availability. Since 2020 I've moved to Annapolis, MD, and have found a new barber. He does a good job, however the neck shave leaves something to be desired (in terms of lather). I've been a regular with him for may...

Re: Williams Mug Shaving Soap is still horrible
So Wegmans appears to carry Williams on a regular basis (at least for now). My last post indicated there was some sort of interruption, not sure what was going on there. Anyhow ... yes, it's not great for shaving necessarily (although I use it occasionally for that purpose). I've been using it as sh...

Re: I think I’m going to drink the peloton Kool-Aid
Sam: The bike didn't come with one? The iWatch can measure HR. Or you could goto the local CVS/Rite-Aid/Walgreens (and probably WalMart and some other places) and fetch a HRM and or pulse oximeter with HRM. Then there's the Polar brand stuff, Whoop strap, etc. As I mentioned, I was really surprised ...

Re: I think I’m going to drink the peloton Kool-Aid
Shoot, wish I'd seen this earlier. When the lockdown happened, the gyms closed. We cancelled our memberships, and I pulled out my road bike ... I'd spent the previous year riding a random stationary bike in the gym for 30 minutes at 80% max HR. When I got on the road bike I was stunned that I was re...

Re: Barbasol Cream
Thanks for the kind words, gents.
I may have been away, but I have not forgotten. I think of y'all every time I load a fresh DE blade in one of my razors. And when I use the shave soap I made (all those years ago).
Hope you all have been well!

Dave

Barbasol Cream
Gents: Long time no talk, have been busy with new job and life. Was at the local Wegmans and saw a squeeze tube of "Barbasol 1919 Classic Shaving Cream." I couldn't resist. It doesn't face lather well, especially compared to Proraso ... however if one simply rubs it in, the glide seems ver...

Re: Corn Nuts
... This would let me use up the kernels I have in the basement. I could use them in the hot air popper but for two problems - I used it for a while for roasting green coffee beans and it will make coffee flavoured popcorn (might not be bad!), ... For the popping corn, put 1/4 cup of kernels in a r...

Would be interested in your results.
The recipes I've tried have turned out well, and were reasonably simple and fast.

Gold Dollar Straight Razor - $25
I have a few straights I'd like to sell, unlikely I'll have the time to really get into them. First one for your consideration is a Gold Dollar for $25. Buyer pays shipping. I don't have an electronic method to accept payment (I could possibly be swayed) ... so a check or MO would be best (for now)....

Re: Milk Street Recipes ...?
I've tried several of his soup recipes, as well as the "steamed chocolate cake" and tahini roasted cauliflower.
I've enjoyed them all, as has my wife.
One of these days I'll be trying a meat dish.

Milk Street Recipes ...?
I was on a business trip in February, and was up quite early one morning getting ready for the day ... turned on PBS and "Milk Street TV" was on. It was interesting and compelling. I visited the website and downloaded the free PDF with 10-something recipes therein. Of note, the website has...

Sorry for the thread necromancy ... I can't find Williams anymore. I used to be able to buy at Wegmans and CVS. Not anymore.

Re: I made this soap
Nice to see this. I have some tobacco scented stuff I made back in the 2014 timeframe, that was something like 60-40 KOH-NaOH. The scent is quite nice, and the lather is excellent. I only use it infrequently now, I've settled on Bic Sensitives and bar soap (although since this COVID-19 stuff has sta...

Re: Autumn days and ex-wives
Interesting stroll through this thread ... I haven't perused this board in awhile (variety of job changes over the last few years), and I don't recall reading this thread back in the day. My marriage has been a sh*t show from the beginning, mostly a result of my profound immaturity (that I've only r...

Re: Gillette Platinum-Plus blade from Brazil
Today was my first use of this blade that comes to us as an off-the-shelf local retailer item. In my favorite razor the final product was silky smooth and baby soft. No complaints, it's a keeper for me. Now to determine how long the edge holds up in everyday use. Let me see if I understand this pro...

Re: BIC 1 Sensitive single blade disposables
It's been awhile since I've posted here. Since my 2015 post, I've been daily shaving with a Bic Sensitive. 2 pass seems to be best for me, as a 3 pass irritates my neck. I did screw the pooch a bit with soap ... I stopped using proper soap and a brush, and about 2 weeks ago I nearly lost my mind wit...
