Fromm 72r

I just bought a new never used Fromm 72r from ebay for about the price of a fast food meal (less than $10 dollars). I've never shaved with a modern straight and do not hone my straights other than to touch up an edge. What can I expect from this straight? Anybody else have one? The initial honing wo...

Enjoyed the video. 6/8 extra hollow grind razor is also my favorite grind and size.

Mike, what kind of loft settings/knot dia. are you using with the grade A's. It's the only knot I haven't used yet. Love the finest, silver tips are a little prickly and the super badger is soft but could use a little backbone, it's a lower loft deal. I think you'll be pleased with the silvertip A ...

No, you're not asking too much for this. I thought your initial asking price for this was fair. I'm flabbergasted this hasn't sold. It's one of the best all around brushes on the market. I'd buy it myself, but I have one already.

The silvertip A is one of my favorite knots. It has plenty of backbone and nice soft scrubby tips. I've never used their standard silvertip but I've heard it's scratchy. I've always been afraid to try it, I figure there's a reason the silvertip A is a much more popular knot, as is their finest. Thes...

Of the razors listed, by far my favorite is the Sensor Excel. I think Gillette technology went downhill from there, or rather toward a headlong dash for profits. I haven't shaved with mine for years, though. I take a cased g type injector with me on trips. It's fool proof as far as type of lather, w...

Another big thumbs up to Larry at whippeddog. He's a true gentleman. He has a sight unseen deal to get you started with straight razors. Almost any vintage blade will hone up nicely and give you a good shave. Stay away from blades made in Pakistan, blades with active rust, blades with rust or corros...

For me, Gillette multi blade technology peaked with the Sensor. Before I found vintage shaving, I tried every new Gillette razor as it came out and never found one as smooth as the Sensor.

It's difficult for me to shave without some audible feedback. I prefer my hollow grind straight razors for this reason. This lets me know when I'm getting that last bit of stubble.

Where are you located? I know China is apparently overrun with badgers, and there are European badgers.

Count me in with those who change their blades by count instead of comfort.
Usually, I use one blade, one razor, Monday through Friday and straights on weekends.

I never worry about sterilization, maybe I should. My normal clean up is just hot water and soap.

Learning to shave with a straight. I did not cut myself, I was too careful, but suffered terrible irritation. I think that was the hardest part of learning to shave with a straight, keeping the blade angle correct to avoid irritation.
