Re: Nancy Boy products

I don't use creams these days, but of all the creams I've tried, NB Blossomwood is my favorite. Performance-wise, it is outstanding.

Re: I stopped shaving today

I still rotate my razors, but more and more I've been sticking with the Above the Tie. I get a great shave from the ATT without any bloodshed. When the Tradere OC comes up in rotation there is no blood either. The razors that bite me most are the Merkur Futur and the Cobra. I learned on the Future, ...

Re: Strop Shoppe Baker St.

Of all the soaps I've used so far, the Strop Shoppe Special Edition Double Butter soaps provide my face the best post-shave feel.

The scents don't thrill me, but they don't put me off.

Currently(for the last two months), these are my favorite soaps. So good, I rarely consider using anything else.

Re: Both Simpsons and Kent advised me to...

OMG, you actually use your Simpson and Kent brushes for shaving? With circular motions no less? My word man, don't you know those are for display only?

My Thater brushes came with a warning not to face lather with them. Simply ridiculous and promptly disobeyed.

Re: Mike's Natural Soaps

For a pure one-note scent, Mike's Hungarian Lavender is my favorite by a mile. The scent may be too strong (for you) upon first use, but it settles down somewhat.

I have the LASS Topanga Fourgere. It's performance is very similar to MdC.

I recommend the Chubby 1 in Super for face lathering. I have the Chubby 2 and it's just a tad bigger than I like.

Re: Barrister & Mann

Maybe I posted this already, but I'm wondering how the B&M compares to Mike's. Anybody got 'em both? I've been alternating between Mike's Hungarian lavender and Barrister & Mann Ferox for over two weeks. The performance is about equal, but I think the Barrister & Mann creates a better l...

Re: Barrister & Mann

I've played with the barrister & mann soap and it performs very well for me. I seem to always forget that I have soft water, so PIFing the soap to others is a way to determine if the soap has merit for more than us folks blessed with soft water. For instance, I used Mike's Hungarian lavender soa...

Re: Barrister & Mann

Oldtrout, that is very kind of you. I'd be happy to accept a puck as a gift, and I will post a detailed review once I have had a chance to use it a few times. I sent a PM with my mailing address. By the way, I'm allergic to cedar and juniper, so if you have a puck that does not contain those scents...

Re: Barrister & Mann

I tend to forget I have soft water, so my reviews may not be of value to others. I purchased three pucks and have two unused. Since two people have commented to my post, why don't I PIF these pucks to them? Kingfisher & Squire, if you PM me a mailing address I'll post a puck to each of you. I kn...

Barrister & Mann

I've had a few pucks of barrister & Mann soap for months, but had not tried the soap until this morning. Gentlemen, this is a first rate soap! Ingedients: Saponified Stearic Acid (Potassium and Sodium Stearates): Stearic acid occurs naturally in both vegetable and animal fats, and is particularl...

You're a lucky man!
I gave my father his last shaves. Not that it matters; but I do wish I could go go back in time with what I know now and give him the best shaves of his life.

Ironic... Just broke the insert to my Dirty Bird (Face Lathering Model) Scuttle. Now I have a nice cup. Maybe I can get her to make me another insert or I might just do without. Decisions...decisions. I bet that Julie would be happy to make a new insert for you. I am a big fan of the scut...

Re: Hanslinger shave soap

The Hanslinger Ewe's Milk is simply STUNNING in every aspect. I will heartily endorse this statement - have just used Haslinger Ewe's Milk the past two days and have to say it is REALLY GOOD. Scent is sort of a lighter version of MWF, but this little puck lathers quickly and easily by comparision. ...

Re: Truefitt & Hill shaving soaps - new products coming

I have revisited the T&H / DR harris soap comaprison. I was wrong , the DR Harris is easier (for me) to create a great lather. I can create great lather with the T&H 1805, but not every time with every brush like I can with DR Harris. I think I will stick with T&H creams and forego buyin...
