Re: What are long lasting current blades of of good quality?
Razorhead is spot on. I have to say that i am not snooty at all about getting 37 great shaves from a pss blade. As for those nasty, horrible bits of metal called feather?..... Squire, your bristles are softer than mine, and a lot of other shavers bristles. Only a very few blades will deliver. Add se...

Re: Razor Cleaning Guide
Do not boil any razor of any kind, no toothbrush and toothpaste either. The razor will end up being scratched doing this. Boiling will see to it that the plating will peel away in time as the metals in the razor will expand at different rates. Just use a shave brush with handwash solution to clean t...

Re: Hello from West Wales Uk
My word, what a lovely welcome. It's very nice of you all. A very nice collection of wet shavers you are for sure. To answer a couple of questions. I live not far from Carmarthen in west wales. I have not used a straight or cut throat razor for yonks. I have no plans for doing so at this time. Once ...

Re: Gillette Nacet Stainles Blades. Anyone tried them???
James, so kind of you to let me know your thoughts. It's a bit of a coincidence, but my top rated blade is the perma sharp, i am up to 17 shaves with it at this time, superb. This is followed closely by the medprep. Then the yellow. All blades i use are palm stropped, pss goes to 25 to 29 great 5 pa...

Re: Question ... Definition of "Aggressive Razor"
You are not the only one to be able to observe the setting difference. If i close my eyes, i think i can see it too. The differences are small though. I have a us 55 ss redtip and a uk 59 ss redtip, the uk one is a slightly more aggressive razor. Apart from minor detail differences that normally exi...

Hello from West Wales Uk
Hi there, i have been wet shaving with de razors from 1959, i was 11 years old at the time. Used straight razor to begin with, but stuck with safety razors for most of the time. Plenty of razors here, all the usual suspects to hand. Prefer adjustables mostly, set on max. I am cursed with a wiry stub...

Re: Question ... Definition of "Aggressive Razor"
The blade gap is not measured with a feeler gauge. It is done in microns. The angle the blade is presented to the skin is of much importance. When an adjustable is adjusted from min to max, the angle difference is very small indeed. But this can make all the difference. By whacking the setting up to...

Re: Something I've noticed about Personna med preps
The med blade is easily one of the finest. But for my difficult wiry stubble, it is beaten by the perma sharp super. Some say the med is smoother, but the pss has the measure of it. Both will give upward of 25 shaves with stropping and only put back in razor before shaving. All the very, very best W...
